Running 285/75/r16 tyres on my 105 series. What pressures should I be running loaded? Not clear from handbook.

I'm running 285/75/16 Cooper STT tyres @35lbs on my 80, don't know if a 105 would need the same though.

The rears are slightly warm after a run at 38psi so thinking of putting up a bit to 42. Handbook, for slightly different profile, suggests 44.

The handbook wouldn't be for 285's though - generally the bigger the tyre the less air you need in it

I generally run 33 PSI, I quite like a comfort ride and that's with 265 70 16".

After running at motorway speeds and checking side wall temps on front and rear, I have set 40 front and 50 rear. I am running heavy with stuff on roof, water cans, spares etc so this seems to be a 'sensible' level which I will continue to monitor. I am sure the lower pressures suggested elsewhere in this thread are fine for 'normal' running day to day but I am not carrying a normal load!
