I've owned my 1986 HJ60 since 1989 and it has served me well.
After more than 300,000kms it got a well deserved rest starting in 2004.
In 2014 I brought it out of hibernation and got it started. I did have to replace brake lines and put on refurbished calipers and a master cylinder.

Also had to recondition the altenator. Now it won't start to charge till load is put on the engine and is revved to 2500 rpm. Then its fine.

However the glow plug operation is intermittent so I changed the glow plug relay. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.
Is there something else I should be looking at? Any thoughts?

Thanks for any assistance.

Try to check your ground (negative) connection if this is sufficient enough or it could be rusty and cannot complete the circuit. After the 10 year or so of hybernation, your wiring should be checked for corrosion.
