ripstop canvas V/s oxford poly coated

What's the material of choice for the discerning overlander out there ? ripstop canvas or oxford polyester ?

Does'nt help that these terms seem to be used interchangeably - as if they were the same thing!

tent, awning, tent bag ( which is outside the truck )..

If you mean a waterproof bag to carry your oztent in on the roof might it be an idea to contact the many on ebay who make trailer tent (folding camper) covers to order from upvc tarp ?

Mostly just wondering if people have an opinion on whats a beter fabric for tents and awnings etc

W.r.t my oztents they are going to almost certainly end up inside a ski box on the roof. That also allows me to just leave them there through summer.
