Hi is it a big job transfer box

Hi is it a big job to do the transfer box on a 1999 colorado do you have to take the gear box out with it thanks for the help .from tonytoyota

Drop rear prop, undo electricals around transfer, unclip centre console (the leather centre section is held into the plastic surround by very delicate clips so be extra careful) and remove transfer lever, remove gearbox crossmember so gearboxes angle down, undo bolts where transfer joins gearbox and pull transfer back on a jack.

Job done.

When you put transfer back on, try and get it lined up before pushing it on to avoid damaging the oil seal in the back of the gearbox.

I have just re-built one that was a bit of a mess inside. I should finish the job tomorrow.

The two epicyclic clusters were passable, but I had to replace every bearing - total cost of all parts was £535.

Its not a two-minute job .
