Very new to the Cruiser Forum. Also do not know much about Land Cruisers. Bought a 1974 FJ40 and plan on one of the first things is to change to disc brakes. At least on the front. Does anyone have suggestions as to what the best conversion kit to use?

Hi there, I know in South Africa you could buy a HJ47 pick up that came standard with disc brakes on the front from the factory, that was the last production run before the HJ75? pick up was introduced.
In about 1994 an uncle of mine converted a HJ47 from drums to disc on the front by fitting parts from a HDJ80.

You could have a search on http://forum.ih8mud.com/
I found this after a brief google search, http://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/hj47-front-end-disc-brake-conversion.384906/

good luck in your search, oh and please do take the time to introduce yourself here

In Australia the 1984 FJ45 series pick up/ute came with disc front end.

Two ways to go in the states. #1 Find an axle from a 1976 or newer FJ 40 and swap er' in. #2 Straight axle Toyota Mini Truck and 4Runner disc brakes from the knuckle out can easily be converted to an FJ 40 Drum brake axle. Go to the IH8MUD forum and search for a build. Not quite as strong as FJ40 Disc but definitely strong enough.
