Just wanted to to say G'day

I'm an old fart from Sydney Australian

I'm in love with my 80 Series 1FZ-FE and still enjoy going out bush when I can
(yes its a petrol one and not a diesel)

Later I will fitting a supercharger to the 1FZ-FE which will give me more grunt :)

Currently I am working on restoring my old girl back to as new as its had a hard life
I am about to replace the head as I have lost all compression on No1 cylinder so I guess it will be somewhat of a challenge to get done
Runs on LPG injection as well hence the valves have burnt out over time.
New head has been ordered and is on its way

After that I am going to give her a new respray as the clear coat on those burgundy/maroon girls is going going almost gone....:)

Have already done a 2" lift kit and 2" body lift
Have fitted 35s AT and have a spare set of baja claws as well
ARB front and rear bars eta eta

Anyway

Chat soon

Cheers

From one self-confessed old fart to another, welcome to the forum!

No personal experience with petrol 80s, so I hope you don't find any problems you haven't foreseen with the replacement head job. What sort of mileage does the "old girl" have?

Please don't forget some before and after photos.... :thumbup:

Welcome to the forum Judgey, good intro! [emoji4]
Best of luck with your rebuild and looking forward to the photos. [emoji4]
Mine's a red one with the peeling lacquer [emoji20] it's a shame but I guess at age 21 everyone is entitled to a good birthday, so mine will get a respray too when I've saved up.

Hi Clive

Thanks for the welcome

Its got 383000km on the clock
Mind you I did have the motor rebuild in 2009 before I had the LPG injection fitted to it
I guess I'm as fault for not checking, maintaining the valve clearances as when you run LPG there is a higher risk of the valves burning out

Did a compression test:
(psi)

1= 0
2= 135
3= 125
4= 145
5= 140
9= 140

Average compression should have been around 171 psi or more per cylinder
No 1 of course is stuffed
Hence a new head is on its way. Should get it in the next week or so

After that’s done I will get the Supercharger from:

http://www.bulletcars.com/superchar...v8-2uzfe-lexus-lx470-supercharger-system.html

This will increase my engine performance by at lease 45%

Here are some clips showing the Supercharger in action for those who might be interested:
