Redarc BCDC Chargers 1225 vs 1240?

Bmonck. Yes I agree, been doing the research myself as currently have a simple relay but want to move over to the redarc to allow for better battery management / solar charging and the option of changing to a better battery in the future. The fact that redarc are not trying to flog their higher...

Best Place for Reverse + feed

Had the same issues removing rear bumper the first time; top bolts were not too much of an issue but the bottom ones were corroded solid. Luckily for me the straps were not too corroded so ended up snapping the heads off all the bolts when I tried to release them. Not too big a deal for the...

Who is doing what maintenance today?

Saw this strange warm ball in the sky today, and no rain ..... so got round to changing front and rear diff oil (and new fill and drain plugs). Here’s my rear diff oil filler Works as a front filler too

This may save you £100,s for your 4x4

Well after many attempts to get the old breather out, and a lot of swearing, I finally had a break in the weather today to have another go. Quick trip to screw fix to get a can of Freeze spray [leaving site], 30 seconds of spraying, waiting 2 minutes (as instructions on the can). Popped on...

Help! Kzj71 wont start! Maybe ECU?

Can’t see to clearly from the photo, but the left of the two capacitors looks like it’s bulging so has probably blown, though they usually make a bit more of a mess from experience. I would clean up the board with some fast drying contact cleaner, or similar, to make sure the tracks around are...

    Upper rear lights

Weather is halting progress for me to. Been looking at the extending of the loom necessary - Tractionman, are you thinking of extending the towing relay loom or going direct to the existing indicators? Was wondering if the extra load of another bulb might not be liked if going direct to the...

I’m with you there. Have a new one, but no chance of getting the old one out! Every time it’s stop raining for a few minutes i’ve been crawling under and giving it a good spray. Hopefully get a few hours of good weather so I can have a go at getting it out.

    Upper rear lights

Bit more research and I’ve found out that the fully working version (under wheel) has all green cables to the indicator connector The connector should be: Pin 1 Reverse Pin 2 Indicator Pin 3 Tail Pin 4 [no connection] Pin 5 Gnd Pin 6 Brake Still not sure where the cable comes from though!
  17. D

    Upper rear lights

No, indicator built is missing the contac too (think you can see in the photo it only has 3 connectors. The missing contacts for the bulbs would be easy to ‘make’, I wonder if the indicator bulb connector (the big white one) and incoming cable could be replaced easily from one from a 120...

Just been out and had a look at mine (wheel in rear door and extra lights in bumper version). All appears to be there, even the twin element bulb for the tail light / brake light. Tail light doesn’t (in bumper does) Indicator doesn’t work (in bumper does) Reverse works Brake works...

    Upper rear lights

Totally agree Tractionman, and it’s been bugging me that they are not in use too. I understand the reason for the set on the bumper, although it’s a bit of a stretch if you ask me - a bit of a non issue i believe. Haven’t taken them off to see what’s behind them yet, but must be more safe to...

    bash plates

Laughing- love your optimism Tony. IF they are rusty - can guarantee that they are. Personally I’d not wirebrush them as you’ll end up with nothing but a pile of rust on the floor, once taken off replace them with non Mr T part and then not worry about them again. I’ve seen the bash plates...

Took over a metal fabrication company, what products would you guys like for your cruisers?

Best of luck with the new business, and great to see manufacturing and engineering in th UK Agree with Andy on bumpers front and rear, under body protection, roof racks, side step rock crawlers. Personally I’d love a rear bumper - similar to this, but which would allow for lights to be...

Tony, That’s really good to hear. EGR clean is getting towards the top of my (ever growing) to do list and I’ve been researching and YouTubing for the past couple of weeks. Doesn’t look too onerous, just wondering how long the process took from start to finish. I’m guessing I should allow a good...

    Fridge required, what’s your experience?

Not sure there’s room in my vehicle for all those fridges  Chris!!!, Thanks for the info though. I agree that it is about layout too, but not easy to see these in person as they are always showing out of stock for most of them, so been getting the manual, and checking measurements...

    Fridge required, what’s your experience?

Karl, Good to hear of your experience. You are right they are not cheap, but I can see the advantages especially on the power usage front and also noise (coolbox is quite noisy running continuously). Still looking around but think I’ll take the plunge soon. Dave

    Fridge required, what’s your experience?

Having spent the past few years with a cool box (Halfords 40l coolbox) i’ve decided it’s time to upgrade to a “proper” fridge. Looking at the Dometic CFX3 45 as its capacity of 40l is what I’m used to and know that it will do not only for day trips / long weekends, but also longer camping trips...

    Fog lights

My apologies - had not realised that the ones I pointed out were from China, agree would most probably not arrive in time. One question is when was your cruiser manufactured? Only asking as front fog lamps only have to be checked as part of the MOT if it was registered on or after 1 March 2018...

    Fog lights

There are lots of cheaper ones available, for example on fleebay (Leaving forum) Agree they hardly get used, so might be prudent to go cheap to keep mr MOT man happy. Unless the ones you are looking at are really badly made there shouldn’t be any issue with water ingress (unless the glass...

    OBD2 Connector

Morning, I to have a 2006 LC4 and it does not support OBD. It appears that whilst vehicles in the US or AUS did, the European and UK versions didn’t. Although the ODB was mandatory in the US it wasn’t here in the UK and it’s pot luck which manufacturer put it in. See Good ODB write up here...

    KDJ120 Instrument Cluster pin configuration

informing insurance about new springs and shock absorbers UK

Its a bit of a area with insurance companies, strictly speaking you are required to tell them of “any” modifications made to the vehicle from factory spec. Diagnostic tool. cheap and reliable

    Towing Relay

Any luck with the tester? It’s always a worry when there’s been modifications by someone else as you are never 100% sure what they’ve done. Not having the socket on seems a bit of a bodge, but also water ingress could have got into the exposed cable and all sorts of issues can be had -...

    Towing Relay

Karl, First is as you have put a new socket on have you checked the wiring and made sure no shorts? Sure you have, but worth asking. Second what happens to your indicators when the relay is removed? Third what happens when trailer is attached? I’ve had good success using one of these Tester...
