Hoping to be back in cruiser ownership soon (yay!)
Might need a really high quality undersealant job- I beleiev Dynitrol edges waxoyl, but I also believe that doing a good job trump's all!
Do we have any club members who underseal cars, or "go to" suppliers?
Trying to understand cost...
If so i massively cut you up getting on to the A34 near Newbury the other day for which i most assuredly deserve a pasting. Sorry!
Nice truck though! had a top mounted intercooler and a airtop tent as well as some other nice goodies?
Are you sure you've got the right people as that's the first time i've heard that said about the organisers and i've been to a couple of their events now- PM me what you didn't like as i'd be interested to know.
There are a number of guys on here who went on a winch training course a few years...
Senior deal leader, mid market mergers and acquisitions
(help yourself if you to work out what that actually mean :) )
before that I owned a chain of fish and chip shops, before that I was a stockbroker.
Who has a very well prepped black edition 80 series that works in Kingsclere (Berkshire)?
STOP PARKING IT OUTSIDE MY WORK AS JEALOUSY IS AN UGLY EMOTION
it must be someone on here as it has one if Julian's stickers and the lift up rear window plates.
Whoever it is, if you see a man in a...
A massive massive thanks to doodle, Cossack and johnnyboy.
We spent the whole day dragging out pieces of 4foot diameter oak, four or five of which were well over a tonne, and got close to stalling a goldfish! Even double lined it was putting some load on.
There was no way that I could managed...
Hi Johnny and Doodle,
Doodle would be very grateful- not sure on time, we'll be there from aroun 9 until around 4-5 with a 2 hour break somewhere to drop a load back to base. Any help very very gratefully received.
Johnny- thanks for the offer but I think we're ok- we've got loads of strops...
bit if a long shot, but I need to drag out some very chunky pieces of oak from a property in Camberly this Saturday- pretty much impossible by hand!
Would anyone be able to help with a winch by any chance- probably take two hours or so.
thanks in advance
In a similar vein I've often wondered about the difficulty of converting it to common rail diesel injection. There are now aftermarket diesel ECU kits, and Diesel injectors are easy to find- you could strip the parts from any 6cyl diesel bmw or merc passenger car.
At the same time you get also...
have a NATO hitch for sale on e-bay and someone's asked if it will bolt straight up to a 100 series standard rear bumper?
they do on an 80, but I dont' know on a 100
Thise links might also help:
and this is what i bought a while ago:
Batteries are much cleverer beasts then most people give them credit for. And when i say cleverer i mean sensitive :)
Have a look here : http://www.accumate.co.uk/OptiAccuMateComparison.htm
this is a comparison table of accumate battery charges. Compare the accumate pro (a car/truck charger)...
Kept the starter motor and alternator when i replaced them.
The starter has a good motor, but a buggered bendix drive (about £80 to replace), and the alternator needs new brushes.
Would anybody like them? do they have any value? might end up at the tip (sorry- Community Recycling Centre)
Russian Military HID spots. These are not some cheap chinese knock-off, but genuine russian military HID posts, they are fully submersible, and genuinely Bulletproof
they come with ballasts, are in fully working order, but cosmetically aren't...
Genuine Dixon Bate Nato hitch- bolts directly up to rear chassis on most jap cars. Comes with rated bolts. Was brand new around 4 years ago, could do with a clean, but underneath is in very good condition.
£35+ P&P (pickup better- these are heavy!)
ELCO Rear tyre cover- for 285/75r16 ...
Aluminium basket roof rack. This is sometimes found on Jap import cars, and it has very high quality welds. Its either genuine JDM, or at least a very quality aftermarket unit.
Its in excellent condition bar missing one fixing on a middle leg. I bought the rack like this, and after 2 morocco...
Some more 80 series bits for sale.
Full Superpro bush kit- a really very high quality kit. Bags still all sealed bar 1- one anti roll bar bush was used on the truck at the front. Not to be confused with lesser quality items. These all come with full posts and lubrication kits.
This is a full...
Following on from The sad end of my cruiser I now have a garage load of parts which I'd like to see go to a good home (ie where they'll be used- hence they are now on the forum). A few posts to cover!
Front and Rear Diffs- front diff needs a new Ring and Pinion, rear in perfect condition...
Made the decision on Friday to let them keep the salvage- a number of reasons, but baby on the way being the primary reason.
For me personally, this won't be the end of landcruisers for me- in 12-18m i will be buying either a late 80, or a 100gs model and do it all over again :D
Once i have...
OK now i don't know what to do.
Will post up how came to an agreed value once i've been paid and had the car back
They want £1,680 to get the car back.
honestly at the moment we could do with the cash more than the car- we have a baby on the way so priorities have changed (although i...
Thanks for replies guys- i wrote a really long reply yesterday but it seems to have not posted
Ref insurance- the Arian flux policy has an option where i have the right to buy back the salvage and i indicated early (and to just about everyone) that i would like to persue this. Co-part...
Andrew- yep rear bumper was chassis mounted- and custom made too- getting a value will be hard
Will email Julian and see if he can help.
as to damage-swerved to avoid a very fast cyclist on a tight country lane- i could have stopped but there was NO chance he was going to get close to...
longfields that's the one
I've been feeling really down about it since they took the vehicle away- i've owned the truck for years now, and have had some of the best times of my life in it- really hope i can get it back.
Just need to find some UK suppliers of the above parts- can any of you...
Just had a call from the insurance company- after an incident on a country lane they have notifed me today that the vehicle is unecomonical to repair :(
I'm extremely sad- my wife and I were engaged in the middle of an Erg in Maroc whilst travelling in Larry the Landcruiser,
hoping to buy...
It may be worth investigating what works with the landrover 200tdi- its essentially the same FIP with 2 fewre ports- in function, and form they are remarkably similar. The knowledge base for the LR diesels is already there, so might be worth tapping into as a good basis for "best practice"...
I used a pair of compression T-latches:
http://gsf-promounts.com/products/Flush ... latch.html
the compression bit is a god send- i sealed the part where the drawere meets the body with some neoprene foam- and the compression latch puls it all tight- which means when you have a lot of...
fully agree with this
having seen OME stuff for years now in the landrover world its very vrey rare to see it fail, the springs don't sag, and it just works. Maybe not hte blingiest- but very very good at what it does.
The only problem with thinkg like fox and bilstein is that they are adjustable/pre-set/narrow band.
Manually adjustable shocks are great if you have the time/inclination to alter them (or set them up in the first place to your sepcific circumstances), but they aren't necessarily great for a...
one thing to bear in mind is that when you fit "stronger" springs you need to have an uprated damper as well - not just to be abit longer, but more importantly to control the rebound on the stronger spring- basically as the spring gets stronger the damper has to work harder to...
they had them on ebay for about £400 about 18 months ago- a mate bought one.
Generally acceptable, but a latch let go at speed on the motorway and ripped the lid off before he noticed, and it took him a while to get a replacement!
absolutely agreed on this-0 but have found that as cruiser are a good half tonne heavier than say a lr90 the extra width of say a 12" v 9" sectional works in the cruisers favour- 12" tyresd work really well on cruisers i've found- rarely are they too floaty, but are always grippy.
oh and this is what the trading address looks like http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=104+Emi ... XD-BDr2Q-A
