Still haven't figured out the problem. Things around the turbo seem to be fine.
Now that it is a bit colder here the problem seems to appear less frequently, but I have a new observation.
When turning on the AC the issue appears almost immediately, turning it off it goes away in a couple of...
Thanks, StarCruiser, yes I replaced the glow plugs, there are no spark plugs in this engine. I'll check the cable tomorrow.
Meanwhile there were some suggestions it could be the Throttle Position Sensor or the Acceleration Pedal Position Sensor. Could these be influenced so much by the rising...
An year ago there was something like intermittent acceleration on my 2001 D4d automatic Prado and the fix was SCVs. However this issue appeared again. I changed the SCVs again just in case, but its still the same.
The acceleration hesitation and delay are most prominent when the car is...
Super cool! Did you mount it directly on the dashboard with screws? And also how did you get to power it?
I'll make a tutorial for the forum when I complete the exercise and of course will give you credit for the info :)
Hi guys, I have a quick question if anyone has tried to mount an inclinometer/compass unit on a 90 Cruiser without one. My mod is 2001 VX 300 TDI / D4D engine. So..should i do anything else then power the unit /somehow/ if it fits the dashboard design? I found one really cheap.. :)
I would also recommend to take a look at the Suction Control Valves - they deteriorate over time and get sticky. In my case when car was cool - less delay, when car runs hot - bigger and bigger delay before boost /normal take off actually/. A quick change fixed it and Cruiser is like new. Good luck!
One recent observation is that lag becomes greater when AC is on. Do you think that might have anything to do with the suction control valves?
Turning of the AC makes car a bit snappier, however the problem is still there..
Beau, thanks again!
The mechanic said it has probably nothing to do with automatic box. Same behaviour after putting a foot on the gas pedal - goes to 1100-1120 rpm, thinks for a while and then the car launches. Same behaviour after hitting the gas pedal from zero, regardless of...
Thanks, Beau, I'll check that. One think that appears a bit strange to me is that car doesn't rev up, before launch - we are both sitting and waiting until power kicks in and rpms get higher and it has quite enough power after that. Could it be something totally different from autobox? A couple...
Well, external oil cooler sounds..cool:)
Was it a diy project, are there any ready cooling kits for this job? Last, but not least - where did you put yours? Just saw a few mods and coolers were positioned in front of the main cooler lower right.
Fluid level checked. Found the probe behind the air filter.
Fluid was at the minimum when car was hot. We added ~200ml more into the system and things didn't change much. The guys said its just 200ml in a system of 12l+ and these few ml are quite insignificant. Further inspection showed no...
i have a small problem. My Prado is now 260k km, automatic box was flushed and the fluid fully replaced with Duglas ATF plus aw oil about 10k km ago. Lately after a few traffic jams a delayed engagement of the auto box appeared. When the car is hot its getting slower and slower on...
