    AHC crossmember pipe rusty

I've just had mine burst a couple of weeks back, my mechanic, Land Cruiser specialist, makes his own repair section for this pipe out of 10mm copper pipe and brass compression fittings, that way, no more corrosion issues. That pipe seems to be the only one that suffers, probably due to the heat...

Rear axle blown oil out of breather

The oil is approx. £21 a litre, need 4.2L for rear diff so 5 bottles, breather hose assembly, union and 2 crush washers was over £40, then Jeremy Hunts cut. :tearsofjoy:

Rear axle blown oil out of breather

Well it wasn't the rear axle. It is the usual AHC pipe that runs on top the crossmember that rots out. That was my initial thought but the colour of the fluid and the the spray pattern above the diff breather made me suspect the diff. AHC fluid goes in pink but comes out yellow! Annoying, just...

Rear axle blown oil out of breather

As per reply to Ben, no wading involved. It looks like it happened from cold as well, it was when I reversed off my drive, could see the trail of oil, then drove to girlfriends, 12.5 miles, where I parked up over night, and it decided to spew a big patch overnight.

Not been anywhere near any water, no wading. Thanks for suggestion though.

Rear axle blown oil out of breather

So as per title, noticed a trail of oil leading off my drive yesterday and on climbing under the truck, found the diff cover soaked in oil, initially though it was the AHC pipe but its gear oil blown out of the breather hose. Any ideas why this would randomly happen? I've just ordered a new...

    I bet that sounds lovely!

How do you go about arranging the remaps do you still contact Richards Auto in Australia or is there an Agent in Europe? Or is this something you install yourself with their laptop? Sounds very interesting, including the Engine remap to disable EGR.

Fuel Filter light but clean filter!

I'm pretty sure the sensor works on detection of a pressure drop. I can't find the info now, but it can't detect a dirty filter, as long as the fuel pressure is correct the light is off. If it detects a drop due to clogged filter or water in the filter bowl, it causes the warning lamp to illuminate.

Yes, massive difference. I think mine probably was not functioning correctly from when I purchased it until the failure. Before I never noticed any difference in ride when changing settings on the suspension dial e.g. off, comfort, sport, now I very clearly notice a difference and ride is much...

    200 D4D DIESEL OR PETROL

Ok, so both engines are well proven and very reliable, so not really much to choose between them. For info, from 2008-2012 the petrol engine was the 4.7 V8 from the 100 series. 2012 they changed to the 4.6. Both engines are very reliable, but the newer 4.6 is a bit better on fuel. Both Petrol's...

    200 D4D DIESEL OR PETROL

Hi, before you make a decision, have you driven either? You may have a preference on driving it, I wouldn't buy the diesel based on economy, I don't think there is a lot of difference. To answer the other questions. The diesel is 4.5, V8 twin turbo (in the 200) and was available from 2008. Both...

Straw poll - is Partsouq or Amayama better/more reliable?

I regularly use Partsouq, only time I've had what could be considered an issue was my order was delayed for Eid. Usually orders are really quickly delivered to UK 3-4 days for me.

    Ongoing AHC Problems

You can buy all of the AHC pipes from Toyota. I understand there are 2 that are prone to rust out, part no.s 48999-60010 and 48998-60010. My mechanic who repaired my height sensors had to replace the one Raj had repaired on his own 200, he said it would be very difficult to replace in one piece...

    Ongoing AHC Problems

Hi Jon, have you checked the fluid level? It's not as easy as on the 100's you have to check inside the access cover in rear drivers side wheel well. Sounds like you may be running low. The numbers should all be as close to zero as possible for the height sensors in techstream, best advise...

Question ? what year did Toyota introduce DPF filters in the 200 series

For Australia, the DPF's were not fitted until 2015 model year. I posted a bit of info about the European ones here if you are interested:- What Model Year VDJ200 (European) are DPF equipped?

    New HJ60 Owner

Sorry to hear the bad news Adrian, I'd definitely seek a second opinion if you can, low compression might mean it just needs a set of rings, not a full rebuild. I do have a contact who rebuilds cruiser engines, he marinises 1HD-FT's to Yanmar spec for installing into boats and has owned over...

Thanks for the offer Adrian, I'm in Norfolk so a bit of a trek! I did nearly buy a HJ61 once, but ended up buying an 80. I regret it really as that was also a minter, imported into Australia from Japan, then exported to UK. It was a grey factory turbo with highline roof and orange decals. I...

the j100 version and OBD2 do not exist?"

Just an observation, I think you will struggle to fill the "shocks" via the pump, ideally you should pre-fill these manually before hooking up. What you are doing will just airlock the system.

    Ongoing AHC Problems

Pleased to report my AHC is finally repaired and fully functional again. In the end I had to buy another rear sensor for the passenger side. Finally Outstanding Integrated Driving Lights for the J200

Seems a bit of a strange decision for a UK company to start production from 2015 model year, Toyota stopped selling the 200 in the UK in 2015. Would be nice if they catered for the earlier models also.

Front top control arm ball joint failure

Hi bud, It is a bit naughty, if ARB recommend it, regardless of whether they had stock or not, they have a duty of care to you as they have fitted their products, there are other upgraded UCA's available from other manufacturers which you could have fitted if they had acted professionally. I...

Front top control arm ball joint failure

It is a modification, the OME gear is a different rating to OEM stock or aftermarket pattern replacements, you have installed higher spring rates and longer travel shocks onto stock mounts, that will now be working under more severe stress and at steeper angles than design. I think that ARB...
