Rear drums on my 40 and 60’s have been great for most conditions.
But the drums did suffer when repeatedly submerged during stream crossings.
But in all other situations they are good. The handbrake is also as good if not better than the 80’s that I had, but does need annual adjustment.
Another year gone in the blink of an eye! Cruiser running perfectly with 220k miles just clicked over so 30k this year. Quite uneventful with a new set of tyres and an arb bush the only requirements.

Great info thanks Roger,
Im hoping to find a spare internal vr 40a alternator to then have refurbed and fitted then do the same to the current 30 amp one to keep as a spare. Been looking for ages but no luck. May have to make some enquires to japan
A hilux doublecab with a canopy for the back may also be a contender? Depends how you wsnt to use it.
Just bought one for the wife to replace her Rav4 that has been written off.

The feeds were upsetting the balance between the batteries leading to one going flat every two weeks and the...
I would change the hoses and belts before you go and consider even changing the alternator if unknown age. Flat batteries scare me!
For spares, perhaps include wheel bearings and the ability to change them.
Plus whats already been suggested
Not every ones cup of T but I like the look and feel of the wooden steering wheels. This is slightly smaller than the original and with the boss kit, its about 15mm nearer to me. Wont fully tighten until i know that its pointing straight!
