    Wheels powder coated...

A small item on a long list but picked up my wheels today ... bit bright but 100% better than the previous crumbling examples. On a side note I've been town driving for a week or so and managed 23 mpg which I didn't think was bad but no idea what it should do lol...

    Windscreen aperture ...

Always a risk of rust but I was pleased to find no rust whatsoever on the aperture this morning whilst having the windscreen replaced. The surface cleaned back to paint no problem and I removed the scuttle panel to find a host of compact leaves, twigs etc all cleaned out which will help the...

    BEB's and handbrake day....

Being a 12 valve and with no evidence of the big end bearings being done its was a no brainer so as planed I met up with Chris and thanks to Andy had the use of his four post lift for the day. All went well and to be fair once removed we found the Toyota shells to be in very good condition. No...

    It's the small jobs...

That also make a little difference to me and as I have a list of much bigger jobs to do on the 80 I set about the grille, indicator, headlight plastic trims, headlight washers which were cracked or broken I swapped out the broken bits and replaced the washer unit which work now. Also sorted the...

    Headlights....

Believe it or not that's the first drive of the 80 at night and I have to say it was like driving with two 20 watt bulbs for headlights and I thought my old Capri's were bad ... :tearsofjoy: You can guess what my first upgrade is..

    Oil pressure....

My oil pressure gauge registered zero ýesterday but no ill effects and all seemed to be running well. Whilst the radiator was changed I also flushed the oil again and fitted another filter they were the only changes made... I then read the numerous posts and thought "here we go" but as always...

    Condenser and radiator...

I reckon I can get a couple more years out of mine.... Whoever tried to remove it in the past made a real hash of it and gave in but it's off now. Main radiator is also shagged so I'll replace that next week, condenser can wait as more important jobs to do first...

    Steering wheel grates

I have a noisy/slight play in the steering. It certainly grates so stripped it to take a look. There is a horn contact/brass ring behind my non airbag wheel which I simply cleaned and greased... all sorted now as quiet as a mouse and no play in the steering... I'm sure you experienced 80 guys...

    A helping hand.....

So today off I set to meet Andy (AndycruiserguyLom) and Chris, I arrived promptly as arranged at 12.45pm at Andy's chateaux in Sheffield. Some would consider it a daunting experience to have two such authorities give your recently purchased 80 series a good look over. I was greeted by Andy and...

    Spare wheel cradle diagram..?

Anyone have a diagram or pics of how the spare wheel is held in place under a 1994 80 please. Needless to say mine looks like it came off Fred Flintstones truck, I not only want to remove it but also make the replacement secure...

    Stupid is as stupid does...

Almost 7 hours return journey to see what turned out to be a very unloved 80 series... you'd think at 58 I'd walk away but no a deal was struck and an interesting journey home began peeing down all the way on dodgy tyres and a whining front diff ... so much to do I've run out of ink.... ah well

Who do you trust to repair your 80...

I do ok on the spanners basic electrics etc but don't have access to the big end lifting gear for the 80. Any recommendations for bigger items like front diff repairs etc... I'm based in Sheffield and know a few of you guys are in South Yorkshire... Don't mind traveling for quality and a...

    Not the normal tyre question....

I usually run General Grabber AT's on my 4x4's as I've tried BFG AT's I the past and had 2 sets changed due to cracking between the tread and it was a pita to get sorted... The 80 I'm picking up has 275x70x16 BFG all round, plenty of tred but showing signs of cracking, could be age or just stood...

I will undoubtedly require replacement parts etc once I purchase the 1994, 4.2 auto 80.... Will be looking to buy new, secondhand as well as repairing what I can. Without searching the Internet with a finger in the air who generally are the go to's. For example Milner in Matlock are reasonably...

    Hey up from the UK

Evening all and first a confession, I've just realised I first joined the forum in 2015 and this is my first post I've owned a number of different 4x4's over the years but always had a hankering for a Land Cruiser Amazon and in particular an 80 series. That is very close to reality as a...
