I'm about 5 000 KM's away..... the east coast of Canada....in New brunswick.... Not too many BJ/FJ's around here.... He stores his BJ in winter and I'll be doing the same thing... It's the only way to preserve them and keep them away from the salty roads and harsh winters.....
the RED one is my father inlaws.... He is the one that built my blue 1981 BJ 40.... He also built that red one (1984 BJ 40).... This is actually his third frame up restoration of a BJ 40.... He's getting pretty good and efficient at them now... I have posted pics of his Red one and his...
The diesel is running strong... Everything looks to be in order.... A few final touches to do...like head lights, badging, windshield and wipers...... But for the most part it's complete.... Will be putting a bestop soft top on it..... Can't wait for next summer.... :D
I live in Canada....and for the most parts...the salty roads during winter just eat away at theses older vehicles... I'm rebuilding a 1981 BJ 40 as we speak...and I was lucky enough to find a good tub originally from California with basically no rust. Most vehicles I had seen around here were...

Thanks for your opinion Clive.... I appreciate the input......As for the fading of the black top....it shouldn't be much of an issue....I chose the denim finish...which is not shiny...and will fade less..... Plus living in Canada....Heat and sun shoudn't be much of an issue...and I will be...
This was the father inlaws first restoration.... I believe it was a 1984 BJ 40 !!! I loved the look of this cruiser....he had made custom half doors... He sold it about 2 years ago...and built his new one...the red one I posted earlier... I think he prefers building them than driving...

Here's a few pics from my father inlaws 1983 BJ40..... He restored it himself....frame off restoration about 3 years ago.... He's currently building me a 1981 BJ 40...should be ready in late September.....
Went with a nice metallic blue paint for my BJ 40 1981....... The wheels will be black....bumpers black...running board black....and a black denin bestop... Can't wait to have it completed in the next few months...
