Slow but steady progress on our Troopy Camper

That looks great, perfect colour for Southern Africa. As you say, very close to the patient of the new LC250. I have a 40 series that needs returned to its original Olive Green (baby poop brown) but it's not my favourite shade! Definitely brown not green - maybe the Toyota paint guy was colour...

Glow Wiring + Glow Element Issues --- HJ61

Luckily I've never had to deal with the glow in mine but I did have issues with a 1988 2H, so did a bit of reading. It had a Superglow system that was overheating. The Superglow glows when you turn the key and then has a secondary glow when the engine is running until it warms up. All this is...

GRJ78 Troopy to Overland ready home

Cheers @Gr8Yota . I did a search when I saw them and wondered how wide they were. I need something like that. Mine looks like it's been off-roading every time you drive through a puddle!!

What are the rubber wheel arch extensions that you have? Any good? Are they screwed on or just stuck?

    Moving to California

That's an awesome looking 70. Hard to find these days. There are some great Cruiserheads in CA, that I'm sure will help you. I think Rob Tygart recently registered an Aussie 40 series troopy. If you are not a member of TLCA, I would recommend joining

    Moving to California

I would recommend asking this question on iH8mud or on the TLCA Facebook page. I know California is a tricky place to register diesels. Also I think you should post some photos!!:)

    New (to me) HJ61

Looks tidy. I don't think you can get OEM suspension any more so it might be better to leave it. @AndycruiserguyLomas might have some? Terrain Tamer are also a possibility. HJ61 are great cars. Easily keep up with modern traffic

    1hz - euro norm

@Volly That table is interesting. I am about to get a 2011 1HZ. According to that table it will be Euro 5!! I am starting to do my research for the trip to Buschtaxi Treffen and I don't want to get caught out.

Which 70 series can be imported into the UK?

It's all about emissions. So the same for the 4.2 diesels. Petrol are easier. Info is on the Gov website under importing a car to the UK, but you then need to dig into the IVA rules and MOT rules. What I said in the post above is pretty much the gist of it.
  16. CruiserScot

Which 70 series can be imported into the UK?

Any 70 can be imported but registering it is another matter! In terms of getting one on the road, broadly, anything over 10 years old, any left hand drive, anything that you have personally owned abroad for at least a year(?) and are bringing in for personal use. Do your research carefully, as...

    Restoration Project 1988 Landcruiser

I have an 88 HJ75 that is pretty original. It runs on split rims. They run a 7.50R16. Most people change them for a tubeless rim. The equivalent size is 235/85R16. That's quite a narrow tyre, which is why most folk throw on some Sunny rims with wider tyres.

    Convert to RHD

Why bother? It's not hard driving a LHD car and great if you want to take it abroad. It's not like you're going to be doing a lot of overtaking lol

    Model identification

It's not easy to tell from the photo but could be an FJ43. The metal between the door and rear wheel arch is slightly wider on a 43 compared with a 40
  31. CruiserScot

    Model identification

You are correct, it is a 40 series. The exact model depends on the engine (F for petrol, B for diesel) and the wheel base eg FJ40 short wheel base petrol, BJ43 mid wheel base diesel
