    Really?

I would have said a £250-500 deposit is fair. £1000 seems a bit excessive

    Really?

I've read the earlier Land Cruisers can only tow 2.5t, but not sure what the cut off date is. I think I'm beginning to lean more towards going for a 100 series to be honest. It seems like you can get a tidier example for less than £10k and they're a lot more modern in design. It also looks a...

    Really?

Seems rather generous for the current owner to knock that £1000 deposit off his asking price, also. It does seem very nice, but is it worth £14k!? I guess the diesels seem to command more of a premium.

    100 series prices

Yeah, I think my hunt for an 80 series is shifting to a 100 series, unless a half decent 80 series for reasonable money comes up in the not too distant future!

2002 (52) Toyota Landcruiser Amazon 4.2 TD automatic

Oh OK - well if you remove the 'Smith' from the middle of my user name and add '@hotmail.co.uk', you have my email address. Paulpen - could you send me some underside photos and any other photos that may be worth sending? Perhaps include your mobile number so that I could call to discuss, or I...

2002 (52) Toyota Landcruiser Amazon 4.2 TD automatic

Apologies - just noticed on your profile you're in Somerset. I'm in Wigan, Greater Manchester so a fair old trek, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested... Any chance of some underside photos? Not sure if you can private message me with contact details? I think I need to be up to 20...

Where abouts in the UK are you? I only joined the other week and haven't built up enough posts to private message yet

Another one looking for a half decent 80 series

Yeah, it does look very nice. I'm not overly fussed about the green laning mods, but they're not too intrusive and who knows, it's something I might fancy taking up further down the line!

Another one looking for a half decent 80 series

Totally agree, I'd much sooner buy off a private seller who has had the car for a few years rather than a dealer trying to turn a quick and easy profit. I'll just keep an eye on the market, I'm not in a mad rush and fingers crossed something will come up in the next few months. I'd be...

Another one looking for a half decent 80 series

Agree to disagree. There's a difference between a rot box and a bit of surface corrosion and/or some scabby areas. It's an old car made of steel, it's always going to rust and even if I got a mint jap import it would rust eventually unless you put a lot of time and effort into protecting it...

Watched that the other day - good video!

Another one looking for a half decent 80 series

As much as I'd love an import, there are various complications: Primarily, my main use for a Land Cruiser will be towing - towing other cars using a car transporter trailer. Are Japanese imported 80 series plated with towing capacity and if so are they plated for 3.5t like the later UK spec 80...

Another one looking for a half decent 80 series

Interesting, will be sure to keep an eye out for when it goes on sale if I’ve not found one before. Where do you plan to list it for sale? Just through the club or eBay/Autotrader/somewhere else? The one at Valley in need of work has mysteriously gone up in price again. It was on for £4995 a...

Interesting, good to know - what sort of price would I be looking at out of interest?

Good shout on the photos, will do and will report back - could save someone else the trip if it's a shed. Unless of course he's watching over me and tells me off for taking photos. By the sound of it he's an interesting character this 'Cruiser King'

Another one looking for a half decent 80 series

It's about an hour each direction for me, so I don't mind going to have a look at it. I'll be going with my Dad who, as already mentioned, has had a few of these over the years. I have also checked the MOT history online. There's a couple of failures (2018 and 2009), nothing too concerning. 2018...

Another one looking for a half decent 80 series

As per my post in 'introduce yourself': New to this forum and I'm in the market for (preferably) an 80 series 4.5 on LPG, or perhaps a 100 series Land Cruiser if the price is right (I know, "join the back of the queue" :grinning:) My Dad has had four Land Cruisers over the years, three 80...

    Hello from Wigan

Hi all, New to this forum and I'm in the market for (preferably) an 80 series 4.5 on LPG, or perhaps a 100 series Land Cruiser if the price is right (I know, "join the back of the queue" :grinning:) I want something that can tow 3.5t and is reasonably comfortable. I'd kind of like an early...
