Thought provoked by a thread resurrection in the 90 section.
I've owned my truck just coming upon 15 years. Its been there through much of my adult life... they say you're not really an adult, brain wise, until 25.. so that's about right!
How long have you owned yours? Any other long term...
Howdy gents. It seems that over the recent weeks that the site has been infiltrated by a number automated 'bot' posters. Is there anything we can do to help prevent this?
They seem to react to keywords like: (forgive the obvious bait experiment)

A very good mate of mine has just finished a body restoration on a 1994 short wheelbase 70. Interiors good apart from the seats. Anybody know of a decent set that might be going? Pattern as per the pic.
First they buy up a 4 year supply of new landcruisers.. then they amass troops on the Ukrainian border.. WTF?? They planning to invade using Toyotas??
Seriously though.. have we learned nothing.. the Putin regime has been about nothing but power and rebuilding the Soviet brand... and they don't...
We bought a 2016 Rav4 Diesel back in July from a main dealer, Full service history at that garage, bought there new, and owned in house by a family member of their lead tech.. 12 month Toyota Plus warranty came with the deal. Fast forward 3 months, and a couple of warning lights on the dash, one...
A call to all 90 series owners - particularly those in cool, damp climates - to keep a good eye out for the rusty goblin. I had to change two ball joints recently and decided to have a good look around underneath. The usual layer of dusty dried sediment lay on the chassis, but underneath the...
With the little man now 6 months old and both of us returning to work next month, I needed a way of picking up from the childminders and so on (can't disable the passenger airbag in a 90 so that's a no go). Mrs Bob didn't mind once it wasn't too costly to run, so I stayed with Toyota and picked...
Is there a minimum age for club membership? This little guy is 2 days old and wants to drive a Toyota some day.. he'll have to make do with the Kuga for now as Daddy's cruiser only has 2 seats and can't disable it's passenger airbag... :grimacing: Mrs Bob doing well too..
I noticed a couple of months ago that the site was getting very slow to react on my phone, then a HTC M8 on Android running Chrome. However this has persisted with my new phone (Huawei on Android) I have also had some slowing issues on Ipad, also using Chrome.
It's as if the site downloads...
Saw a beautiful green L reg 80 on the M7/M9 in Kildare this evening on my way home. Looked to be on holiday as opposed to being imported etc. Wondering if it was a member?
Inspired by a thread on another forum. Interested in seeing how others use their shed/garage workshop space.
I was fortunate enough to get this along with our new house last October.
I had been renting a shed about 30 miles from home, and so this changed my life! I use it for storage, and a...
Quick one for those in the know.. Have been asked by a friend to collect a classic car from the Wimbledon area in the next few weeks. I'm aware that it's inside the LEZ so that needs to be paid, but a trustworthy associate questioned whether or not I need a tachograph in the UK. I have towed...
I know Toyota UK do stickers for this, but as my truck is about to hit it's 300th some day next week, I got to thinking about how many high mile trucks we have on the forum... proper high milers.. say quarter million plus?? (Or 400k in euro metres)
This is still my daily drive, and as expected...
Don't know if it's making UK news, but we're going to get battered by Hurricane Ophelia here tomorrow. It's still a Cat.3 storm, likely the strongest system to hit Ireland in 50 years, also the furthest east a Hurricane has ever made it across the Atlantic.
This is not sensational red top media...
Well it only lasted 296,742 miles... I really should put in a letter of complaint...
Got the squealing bearing noise on startup this evening in Dublin, but it kicked into life upon revving. It tried it's best and lasted for 84 of the 86 miles that I had to go to get home.. then the dash was a...
This evening my rear wiper started to slow down and after 2 or 3 very slow wipes it came to a stop. When I got home I tried to see if I could free it and the threaded spindle just sheared off (I didn't have to apply much force at all. So now the wiper arm is in the boot...

Picked up this set today from my nearest store. Reserved it Tuesday in an online special purchase (IRL only)
3/4 drive set up to 50mm sockets. Good to have the bigger sizes for wheel hubs and the like. But the best part - paid only €30 (retails at £250 - and probably £150 in their sales)...
In the last 2 years or so, the market for the 40 series in Ireland has gone berserk. It started with a couple of of top class restored examples selling for big money, and now every cowboy importing clean ones from Australia is looking for crazy money.
This appeared this week...
Even after 8 years of ownership and 210,000 miles of joyous driving, the LC never fails to impress..
Driving home on a busy road between two towns here, found a Scania 6x4 tractor unit with a Noteboom tri-axle low loader had tried to make a U-turn. He got the truck onto the grass verge mid...
Just a simple question..I'm headed over to Cape Town at the end of next week through work, but will have a bit of free time here and there. One thing I want to do is visit Maitland cemetery, where I have a relative buried.. Wondering if it's advisable or not to rent a car? I'm presuming CT is...
It seems that after 8 years of recession and austerity, good old Ireland has gone batshit crazy again.. apparently we all have a fortune to spend on decade old quarter million mile trucks..

A couple of years ago my old man started planning his retirement and wanted a toy to play with. After much discussion we came up with a plan. He provides the finance, I provide research and labour, and a specialist provides the finish. The result is a (rather expensive) shared toy we'll both get...
Last week my diesel filler pipe sprang a leak and the truck did an impression of a dog taking a piss at the pumps. My local Mr.T wanted €148 for the pipe assembly:shock:.. Off to internet land and Milners delivered one to my door for €78
Toyota genuine part... Result!!!
The job...
Ok, so I've been chasing a niggly fuelling problem around for the last while and thought I had it sorted. Well the bugger keeps coming back. I've replaced filters, cleaned fuel lines, dropped the tank, cleaned the egr and air intake and all to little avail. After some searching it appears the...
As part of my job, I've made it to India for a some sightseeing and investigations of local infrastructure and community development. I'll be adding pics when I have better wi-fi, and decided to post here instead of trip reports as I didn't bring my cruiser for obvious reasons!
So far it...
Hey guys.
getting an increasingly present chattering noise from underneath. Seems mostly there when cold, but I can't be sure as I usually have the radio on. It seems to go away when the truck is under load at low revs, eg. Putting the power on in a higher gear at lower speed, and seems louder...
For sale on this side of the water, owner doesn't even know what it is. Happen to know he wants €2000 for it. Although the sills look rotten... Would have a stab at it myself if I had the readies.

Been keeping a close eye on the situation in Calais, as we are booked to sail on Friday from Dover. Just wondering if anybody on the ground in the area has feedback on the sort of delays on the approach to Dover?? I see operation stack is in full effect and closures on the M20 are frequent...
So, off we go again. This year we decided to go to the southwest, taking in Barcelona, and then over to Provence. This is our planned route. Stopping in with my cousin in Hove on the way... Comes up as Shoreham on the map
Camping all the way. To be honest I'm a novice at green laning...
My LC is my daily driver, and to be honest, as we are saving for a house build, I don't have the money to spend on some of the desirable gear thats available out there. So I decided to see what I could do, on a budget, that would suit our needs for camping trips in France/Spain/Italy that have...
I've been toying with the idea of putting black vinyl on the rear panels of the cruiser. As its a commercial, the glass was removed and replaced with solid panels before it was sold new. Obviously it wont look as good as tinted glass, but its basically the type of look I'm going for, without the...
In the last few days my truck has been misbehaving. Starts normally, and drives perfectly from a mechanical point of view. But it's losing power on acceleration under load. It will pull away fine in first, then in any other gear it won't pull on for maybe 3-4 seconds. Then it gets power back and...
Well, after 236,000 miles, my steering wheel has finally decided to begin proper disintegration....
A combination of wear and cold damp weather has taken it's toll. I don't want to get a cheap halfords wheel cover. Are the eBay stitch on replacements any good? I fear going to a...
I've recently discovered that my indicator stalk is faulty, as it causes the front foglights to flicker a bit when you apply pressure in certain ways to turn on the indicators.
Anybody have one they could stick in the post for some PayPal moneys??
Breakers here don't have many cruisers...
If you're willing to take a trip this side of the Irish sea, jap import with some overland goodies for peanuts... I'd happily view for a prospective buyer.

Today's project was something that has been bugging me for a long time. The armrest/centre console is too low to be useful really. So out it came for a simple mod to raise it. I thought about building a unit from scratch, but wanted it to look OEM...
Knocked together a spacer unit from some...
Getting ready for the trip to Italy in a couple of weeks, so looking at a better way of packing than I've had before. I use the back of the truck a lot for carrying stuff, so a built in drawer/storage unit was out. Luckily a chap I know came up trumps with 4 large storage tubs from the warehouse...
Just been on booking our trip for July. Driving to Lake Garda first. So looking for a recommendation for a good day trip in the area. Looking at Bormio and the Stelvio Pass, but not sure if there's any lanes or off tarmac tracks in that area.
After that it's a week in St.Tropez - beach &...
Was going to put it in trip reports, but may be of interest here... A dash mounted camera from our road trip to Monte Carlo last August. Put it together on the Mac with iMovie. Think it turned out ok considering I've only played with it for a few hours
Ireland to Monte Carlo in a Toyota...
I've felt for a while that the cruiser was a little sluggish, so I had a look to see if the throttle body and EGR were coked up. So off with the intercooler and air intake...
and for 225,000 miles, I think it's fairly good, so I decided to hold off the strip down as the butterfly valve moved...
So, have been having many hours of deliberations over the last while about a new car for Mrs Bob. Many considered, but settled on a very clean 09 Ford Kuga titanium.
its really very comfortable, and quiet, and smooth, and reasonable on the juice. Very happy overall. Could highly recommend...
I was going to bring the Landcruiser, but this looks too nice when its shiny so...
A little bit of a wash for our 1972 VW Beetle.... Original Irish car, restored fully in 09 - 12,078 miles...
A kind of an important wash really...... Its taking me to the church tomorrow (today...
Lads, ye should be looking here for 80's and 100's. our crazy motor tax system means that the big trucks go cheap here when they are a few years old. 2 examples available now..

So... Just got news of an unexpected road trip for the end of August. Long story.. But the basics are.. I'm a tech guy with an amateur theatre group (hobby only.. No moola) and we are bringing a successful show of ours to the world amateur theatre festival in Monaco.
Anyhoo, being the techie...
After the cruiser got broken into, I dropped it into my local Mr.T to get a new lock and door handle fitted. A straight forward job one would assume. But alas I arrived to find that they had fitted a chrome door handle to my truck.... which has black door handles.... When I asked the service...
I was on the road this weekend, hauling around a stage set for a touring play.Parked up in the 'secure' hotel car park. Came out of the hotel this morning to find this...
Door lock completely busted, screwdriver left on the drivers seat. Ipod, not-so-cheap Prescription Sunglasses, Watch...
On foot of a post on the 60 series section, I got thinking about this. In Ireland anyway, the emergency services have a long history of using LCs for specific purposes. Thought I'd throw up a few pics for those who are interested.
Mainly Fire service and Coast Guard units
Even the...
Looking at the thread about Koyo bearings got me thinking. My 90 failed the DOE test on Friday (MOT equivalent but more comprehensive). So I've had to get a rear brake calliper and some good ol anti roll bar bushes. I've ordered them from Milners as they come in considerably cheaper than Mr.T...
