    For Sale - 1994 80 Series 4.2TD HDJ80 Amazon VX - UK Model

Thanks Shayne, it has indeed passed the Isle of Man test only earlier this year. As they only test you once here when importing a car > 3 years old, it is more thorough than a standard MOT. They only picked up a couple of points, rear shocks and a corroded rear brake line (both now replaced)-...

    For Sale - 1994 80 Series 4.2TD HDJ80 Amazon VX - UK Model

For Sale - 1994 80 Series 4.2TD HDJ80 VX - UK Model It is with some regret I'm putting my 80 Series up for sale. I've had the truck literally 1 year and in that time have had a fair bit of work done to bring her up to good working order. However change of circumstances, our plans have changed...

Cowl Louver to windscreen rubber seal

I've got my truck in for a windscreen replacement tomorrow. On assessing the job, the windscreen guy reckoned my windscreen seal is currently misfitted where it meets the cowl louver (I call it the scuttle panel). As you can see from the pic, there is a rubber flap section towards the bonnet...

    Paul's 80 photo thread

Nice looking truck. have you got any more pics of it, from the sides or back? Just my truck is exactly the same colour - red over grey, but looks like you've got rear tints, as well as a black painted front and rear bumper. I was thinking of painting my bumpers matt black also, so would be...

Who is doing what maintenance today?

Managed to get my front and rear diff locks working today. Only had the truck almost a year, but had resigned to the fact that it would be a big job to tackle, so hadn't bothered until now. My front and rear diff-lock switch was not functioning, nothing on the dash was lighting up. So having...

    AC condenser

Thanks for the advice on the pipes. I'll take mine apart to see if they have any holes or damage, they just a bit corroded from the front. Those O rings sizes from Frank will be useful when I get round to this.

    AC condenser

This is a useful thread, as after replacing my radiator I found my AC condenser was literally falling to pieces... I think my bulkhead pipes are corroded as they seem glued to the bulkhead heat shield. I don't think these parts are easily sourced from Toyota, is it practical to have the...

Just to confirm that was a plain one for me. 1. Chris, Cubby confirmed 2. Chris, Plain confirmed 3. Yogi, Plain confirmed 4. Rob, Plain Confirmed 5. Grant, ideally with cubby box. Yep ideally we'd all like that. Noted - SWMBO approved 6.Mark, ideal price if we get to 10-20 7. Richard.cubby...

Group buy - 80 series rear tailgate decks in stainless or aluminuim

Nice to see this moving forward. The cubby one is too far of a stretch for me, but happy to take a plain one to spruce up the truck. If shipping for £10 covers the Isle of Man then great, if not I can give you a UK address. 1. Chris, Cubby confirmed 2. Chris, Plain confirmed 3. Yogi...

Group buy - 80 series rear tailgate decks in stainless or aluminuim

Just come to this thread a bit late (but not too late it seems). What's the deadline for putting my name down for one of these? Would probably be interested in one with the lockers.

Wanted: winch bumper & storage drawers?

If you're on a smaller budget you might want to have a look at the Frog Islands bumpers. I'm certainly considering one for my truck. £499 isn't a bad price compared to an ARB one...

    Coolant flush

I changed my coolant about 4 months ago when I swapped out my water pump. The coolant was rusty water before, and I thought I'd try a coolant flush. Though the product I used, think it was Wynns coolant flush, seemed to be little more than some soapy substance. Certainly filled my coolant...

    arduino & touchslide

Hi Jon great. thanks for that. Yes I was thinking of doing it this way. I've already being playing with some thermistors and my Arduino for another project. So I'll see what sensors I can find! Cheers Al

    arduino & touchslide

Hi Jon I'm thinking of putting together my own Arduino solution to monitor coolant and ATF temperatures. rather than your Touchslide solution, I was thinking of replacing the digital clock with a small OLED I2C display wired up to an Arduino. I was wondering what type / make of coolant...

Any interest in 80series front steering guards

Hi Karl I might be up for one of these. You might have covered this already, but does the truck need any modifications to fit? Does it mount in existing holes, and replace the existing plate underneath the radiator? Cheers Al

Headlight harness upgrade: UK versus Australian build

Just being googling this myself as interested in a HID upgrade. If you're taking the HID route, you can get HID wiring relay kits to wire directly between the battery and the headlight connector for around £10 on ebay, so that might be worth a look.

Headlight harness upgrade: UK versus Australian build

If you've got the workshop manual, you might be able to work out the difference between the Aus and European models in their wiring diagrams. Just a thought! I've got an 80 series, and went to replace a burnt out DIM / DIP relay, only to realise the relay had been by passed. So this kit is of...

    Reaplcement 80 radiator options

ok thanks. I'll look them up and see what they can offer. In two minds whether to go aftermarket to save some money for now - and maybe split out the ATF cooler to save things from getting messy. Cheers Al

    Reaplcement 80 radiator options

Hmm. It seems my radiator is on its last legs and has a drip of coolant across its bottom edge, I guess where the radiator core meets the outside of the housing as I can't see any drips on the radiator itself. I don't know if its related to my recent water pump replacement, but it obviously...

Small Water Pipe Part number required - Someone with EPC pictures please help

Hi Denboy Having recently replaced my water pump, there are a couple of small coolant hoses which run across the front of the engine behind the cam cover plate. This is the no.2 turbo bypass hose. It has a metal section behind the cam cover plate, and two rubber hoses at either end to the turbo...

    Unknown Contaminant in Radiator

This seems to be a slight weak point in the design for this to be able to happen. Although perhaps not too common? I have the same setup in my 80 series, but I was thinking of re-routing the ATF through its own separate cooler rather than through the bottom of the main radiator. That way when...

    oil catch can for 1HD-T?

thanks for the input... I certainly have more oil than I would like in the air intake, but will keep an eye on it to see if its just a build up over time or not. I guess this may depend on the truck and the condition of the engine, type of oil, driving etc. So many variables. The catch cans...

    oil catch can for 1HD-T?

During my recent Timing Belt replacement, I noticed a bit of oil from the cam cover oil breather pipe. Not a huge amount, but given this breather feeds into the air inlet before the turbo, it did seem to be making a little mess of the turbo itself, and I think also causing a little blue smoke...

Water Pump and timing belt replacement 1HD-T

thanks Frank. Though I think you might be referring to the 24v engine. On the 12v 1HD-T, unless I'm mistaken!, there is just a spring holding the tension for the idler.

Water Pump and timing belt replacement 1HD-T

Further to my earlier post on whether to go OEM or aftermarket parts for my Water Pump and Timing Belt / Idler. I decided to go OEM after all the various comments. I also replaced the thermostat, cam cover oil seal, timing belt tensioner and aux drive belts. I thought I'd post a picture up...

    TVSS and Carpet cleaning

Nice work! I've just bought an 80, though our carpets weren't that bad (apart from a slight dog odour) so we resorted to steam cleaning them, they've come up ok. You've taken this to the next level! What carpet are you planning on putting back in? I was looking over my truck last week and...
