The 100 is a great vehicle, and responds well to the right mods for travel,
and do run as maintenance free as the
80, providing the set up is done correctly when its put together, if you
wish to load it up and head into some of
The less maintained roads for many miles.
Some of the important things are firstly, good shocks [without 3 letter
expensive stickers ] the vehicle doesn=92t like
Getting to the bump stop often in the front. Also, if lisfting it more than
750mm from bottom edge of rim to
Fender in the front, you will need to fit a front diff drop bracket to help
the cv angles, with this fitted the cv boots
Will last their natural life. Also, you will need to have the front A arms
welded, as they have a habit of cracking
Where the T bar mounts, but its caused by hitting the bump stops, and having
them fixed cures this problem.
We fit out more 100=92s than anything else here, from power upgrades that
improve economy [40% more torque and
minimum 10% better fuel economy] 35=94tyres, 75mm lifts, Bilstein long travel
shocks, or Fox Shox, and the 100 handles
touring with a good set up with no problems.
The steering rack ends, and the front lower ball joints you just need to
keep an eye on, but they don=92t work out any
Dearer then 2 swivel hub rebuilds in an 80 in the amount of miles it
normally takes a 100 to wear them out.

Hi All
having recently sold my 80 series, I am now thinking of purchasing a 100
series 4.2 TD, Auto - have had a look at some of the info around and it
would seem GX, but would not rule out a VX on Active ride alone.
I am looking for help and advice on what to look for - look out for?!
Probable prices and relative miles - do they run and run as per the 80 and
previous Cruisers.Has anyone - Jon Wildsmith for instance - done any home
work/research into these recently?
Recommended one for general use/towing/overlanding/off-roading ?
100, 000 + miles a problem?

your thoughts re the above and servicing prices/issues - ie. BEBS etc?
Jon (or anyone else who has purchased one in the not too distant past):
if you don't mind what did you pay and what did you get for your money?
Price for the TJM front bar? Where it was purchased?
Having looked at Autotrader etc there seems to be a few out there ranging in
price from =A37k up to =A320k
would prefer to spend as little as poss, but prefer to spend a bit more for
a nice cond lower mileage example - opinions welcome.
Presume these are liable for the higher road tax if newer than '01 - guess
it would be approx =A3450 per annum - please correct me if I am wrong/confirm
I am right.
Looking forward to some advice/opinions/experience
