Hi all - new member and first time posting. I'm completely removing the OEM moonroof from my '98 100 Series because the drive cables are completely jammed up in the housings and I can't get the glass to slide open enough to remove glass only in order to access the screws that hold the housings in place. I have replacement cables and housings, just need to install them.
So far I've successfully removed the headliner and all wiring harnesses. I've removed the two front nuts and all eight bolts (four along each side of the frame), but now I'm stuck. Along the passenger side there is a retaining clip on another bolt that prevents the moonroof frame from dropping down (see picture) and I can't figure out how to get it out. In the picture, I've bent back part of the clip to show how it is threaded onto the bolt, which comes down from above (no access). Any advice from someone how has encountered this problem would be greatly appreciated!
