Having trouble getting a non genuine turbo for my LC5 2004,.. I need to find out what pin, are the electrical connectors ie 16 pin 12 pin 2/4 pin etc. I think there are two connectors. but there are many combinations. depending on model.. I phoned Toyota tech, dept. and even they cant tell me.... does any one know of a manual that might have exploded view of the turbo... it has to be the 2004 model..any help would be great.. Thanks

Part number is 17201-30010 if that helps.
Thanks mate. iv quoted that No many times.. iv just spoken to a company up in Manchester selling genuine Toyota turbos for half price compared to genuine, but for some reason he cant confirm the pins in the sockets. and did admit there are a lot of differences.. I don't want to take my old turbo off the truck just to find out coz that would leave it useless till I got a new one.. cant understand why even Toyota don't know... thanks anyway mate. The No you gave is correct for my truck.. but it also matches all the part Nos for LC 3/4.. But they are different.

Can you not get to the plug, separate it and take a photo of it with a phone cam then replace it? I’ve no idea what it’s like so maybe this isn’t possible. Alternately, do you have to change the actuator or can you reuse that bit?

On the 2004 model you can not service or even buy the actuator/step motor you have to buy the whole unit. Toyota changed the turbo (for about a year) to the water cooled turbo with non serviceable step motor.. then went back to the original set up on later models.. coz they realised they Naffed up.there are lots of companies selling lc5 turbos that they think will fit mine ( but they wont) even the female sockets are different 6pin 8 pin who knows... Iv just got of the phone with a Turbo specialist. they said they got one in and couldn't repair it. the first time they have ever been stumped... they were very helpful.. and sympathetic. Im loosing it slowly.:angry-screaming:

Is it just a case of biting the bullet and getting the one listed for your chassis number from Amayama, or does that involve pin configuration pain too?

Might be worth having a word with Fast Turbo (01536 601020).

Thanks for the input chaps im going to try and get plugs off today.if iv got time...Tried Toyota again, They can be unhelpful when they want,I suppose if there not doing the job or supplying parts.. why should they care. Anyhoo! .... Thanks

Guess you are keeping the 120 now ?

From Memory, there is an access flap that can be taken off inside the drivers wheel arch to get to the turbo.
you might already know this and the plugs tucked round the back. but if not it might make it easier to identify.

Thanks mate.. Good old Flint sent me the Toyota manual for turbo removal ..... 'Christ' cant believe the work involved to remove the Turbo..... Thanks for the Tip any ways..

Finally found the problem.. The 6 pin connector on top of the actuator has a spade connector missing..On top of the actuator there are 3 x 8mm bolts holding the top on, if I can get it off a Diagnostics firm said they could replace/ repair the missing broken spade.. so fingers crossed I can get it off.. We shall see. im not counting my chickens yet....... so that's my job for the w/end:thumbup:

I hope it is a nice easy fix , good luck .

Just a little tip... I was talking too Diagnostics chaps yesterday about my OBD 2 scanner not working on my truck.. He says it wont work on Toyota 120 pre Aug 04... From what he says after Aug 04 and 2005 is ok .. This was Toyotas big change over apparently .. So quite a few hidden differences.... just looked on my V5 mine is 01 April 04... you couldn't make it up.

Techstream should work on M-OBD if you've got a pc laptop. Loads on ebay, but worth checking that they'll run ok with your windows version.
