1964 FORD CORTINA MK1 NEW VEHICLE NEVER REGISTERED,

Amazing!! I've passed that on. Thanks for posting that Chas.

I had 3 of them in my time, a navy blue 1200, a dark green 1500, and a 1963 light blue 1200 estate with that horrible plastic wood stuck to the sides.

It cost me £12 quid to buy, and ended up with corsair 2000 servo assisted disc brakes, the big drum rear axle, and a 1600E engine and box in it.

It started off as a bench seat and column change, which I rather enjoyed as a novelty, till I swapped out the engine and box in one go, and changed the bench for single seats. I converted the rear lever-arm shocks to coil over adjustable Spax and it was quite a pleasure to drive.

I loved it, and kept it as a daily drive for about 4 years, clocking up over 250,000 miles in it, as at that time I was commuting from B'ham to Ripley in Dearbyshire, daily

Never owned one but been in plenty when I was (much) younger. I think you'd really have to be bitten by the nostalgia bug to pay anything that for a basic Mk1 Cortina no matter how good it is. Lotus Cortina, maybe. JMO

The challenge is that there are probably many more Lotus Cortinas now, than there are the pov pack basic ones, and as such they're starting to go up in value - much like basic Escorts as well.

Really nice find - if I was into Cortinas I'd be there in a shot - I'm presuming a Ford Cortina club member will be after this and hopefully cherish it.

I imagine it to be worth money as a collectible, as a car it's a bag of sh!te by modern standards, and no offence meant to any Mk I owner and fanatics out there, it's JMHO.

When I had mine in the early 70s, I'd come from a modded A30, and A35 vans so it seemed like a luxury limo in comparison.
