I'm looking at changing out the rear lights on my 1989 LJ70 so that I can get the brakes and indicators working on the wings rather than the bumpers - and thought it would be good to try and upgrade to some more powerful LEDs. I haven't found any options apart from these from China. Has anyone tried installing lights like this, keen to hear if anyone has had any nightmare experiences before I go ahead and purchase!

Nice! Please share your review of them once they arrive (Also keen to hear how easy they are to install!).

See if you can find a set not identical to those sold on Alibaba for a fraction of the price and i bet you can't .

I bought my smoked rear leds for my 90 series years ago direct from the source and all is still good .

Don't know how picky your mot inspector is or if you need to avoid your local paramilitary donut eaters or even at the most extreme your insurance company the original lights would have an E mark or SAE or kite mark or eurovision 1987 winner mark somewhere are you going for the newer clean look with the clear lenses the led look of more modern vehicles or you could clean up your old lenses with a bit of Tcut or similar and change to led bulbs and use some current loading ballast for the indicators either way be nice to see the before led and with led day and night pictures when you are sorted

They look like the OE fog /reverse but are stop/tail/turn.

I swapped out the lights on my old 70 using OE style in the pillars which are available very cheap Then added LED bulbs.
I’d ask to by your old lights but think I’ve got one coming from Australia now.

I wouldn't recommend using these parts, because they are not waterproof.
I had a lot of trouble with these lights (fog lights, rear lights, license plate lights and with very expensive head lights...).

If you dont't drive offroad and if you are make some additional sealings with a transparent seal, than you will have a chance to protect your investment. Be aware and don't make a whater crossing!

Of course, they are looking great, but unprotected LEDs/Electronic and whater they are enemies!

BTW: The good old light bulb that is significantly superior for rugged environment...
