Hi All,

Ive recently just bought a truck with 180k miles on it and a bit of a gap in its history. At some point in its history it has had an intercooler installed and an aftermarket turbo.
After plenty digging, I’ve identified the turbo as a TD05H-16G. Not sure of the exhaust housing size just yet.
Managed to do some testing on it as it didn’t feel very strong - and the explanation is, now after hooking up an industrial 4” pressure gauge, that we were only peaking and holding at 0.5bar.

I then tested the actuator itself and noticed that it has been spaced with washers between the actuator bracket and the compressor housing. The actuator cracks at 1.0 bar - lovely.

Then...

Decided to cautiously test with the actuator input port vented to atmosphere. In the theory that the actuator might be damaged and it was actually opening under EMP.
In this config, it reached and held a peak of 0.8bar. So either EMP is opening the WG at 0.8bar or there’s something else wrong.

Any thoughts?

So an update - the turbo shop did some test and an inspection. They say all checks out fine, other than the wastegate cracking at 0.7bar. They say they have adjusted it to crack at 1.0bar now. Let’s see what happens...
