OK, the oem oil filter tool is a bit expensive, but it works great.

Oil cooler removed, it looks horrendous, but it isn't. Not rust just dried up antifreeze.

Block checked at 7 points, didn't need the feeler gauges, but for the record could only get a 0.05 feeler gauge under a couple of points. Max spec is 0.2.

nothing to note so far, everything is well within spec as yet.
these are pretty epic engines.

The clean up begins.

will do a few more passes on this side then should be done.

If the engine from that condition can be cleaned n made to work, then Landcruisers have a longer life than humans. These cars are only dying due to the lack of knowledge to fix them right way.

I would use a power washer in whatever ports you can access, the sludge that comes out will be just as epic!

Regards

Dave

Yeah it was dave.. :)

saying that though, shining a torch in, it was bare cast iron. no rust, just emphasises the importance of keeping on top of the antifreeze in a motor.

And thoroughly cleaned. Took about two hours to get to the point of this paper towel being this clean, after wiping all six with it.

Putting these little squirts back in...

I always find the cranks out of these engines an impressive thing.
