Dermot,
I have a friend here that just put these in (as he has broken his birfs -
he was running 37" and now 40").
Be interesting to see how they run.
Christo certaintly would be the 'expert' opinion on birfs.
My opinion is that they are not long enough out for people to know how
good they are (i.e. not in enought 37"+ tire size trucks for those that
wheel hard and have broken regular birfs 2 compare).
My birfs has been clicking 4 3+ years and just swapped from side to side
(most say it helps) - mine now sounds worse :) (looks as if I'll need a
replacement in next year or so - or when u breaks - but normally wheel with
Robbie and he carrys a spare :)

Evening all!
Anybody had experience of these?- http://www.toyotasuperaxles.com/
The Chromoly for the 80 series are $305 each and Bobby claims "no one
has ever broken one, you won't wear it out." They came highly recommended
by Ben at Slee offroad.
My RH one has just started clicking at full lock with the diff-lock
engaged so I am tempted before I stop going to the States so often.
Happy Easter.

Technically you might call it Landcruiser, but it's more like a three
quarters of a landcruiser, or even less. IMHO Arctic Trucks have more
in common with a typical landcruiser, like these ones:

Roman,
Christo's Shortbus (as he calls it) is partly an experiment to see how far u
can go with a standard Landcruiser and push to the max. I think he is
reaching that limit. He wheels it quite hard (on a South Dakota hard-core
wheeling trip he broke 5 birfields).
He is thinking of going to 44" tires and I suspect with the Long birfs they
should be strong enough (await and see) - however else he something else
will break instead. As he says he'll keep pushing until he gets feed up with
it (saying that he is working on a 4Runner/Tacoma buggy truck).
I agree that the Artic trucks 'look' better and have a nice beefy style (bit
like a Yorkie :)
Christo has had interest in people wanting an Artic looking truck but he
indicates they have very little wheel travel/articulation and would be
pretty useless for wheeling here (rock crawling etc.). For what they are
designed for they are great - huge tire footprint. Great posers truck
though!
