Received this from a mate, no idea where he got it, but it sums up my LandCruiser obsession...

...every time you trek to some inaccessible part of the world using helicopters and specialist equipment, you will arrive to find a family having a picnic on the tailgate of their 1980s Land Cruiser. It's true. Travel to the Earth's core and there will be a fossilised Land Cruiser down there somewhere. Put some diesel in it, slap on a new battery and it'll probably start.

Can it be said any better why we all love the Land Cruiser. I gave up on street cred years ago (not sure I ever had any anyway however I did once own a Mk1 Golf GTI which appealed to me more for the reliablity than the speed anyway which shows where my brain is at :D ), I like vehicles you can maintain with a lump of wood and maybe a pair of sidecutters just so as you can wire up some extra lights - Land Cruiser headlamps up until recently have been a bit like gloworms, and I like sticking 2 fingers up at the doubters when I drive past their sad broken down old wrecks.

Long live the big bruiser

I like what he says about it being the underdog. The one with no bling or street-cred, but the one that will actually get you there, without caring what other people think of it. That understated feel about it, alone, makes it the coolest truck on the planet.
