[ADMIN] Quick facts about the list

Hi,
I was doing some work on one of the list member's 80s yesterday (repack
of rear wheel bearings that turned into emergency rebuilding of the
brake calipers as well) and he was asking about the list and how long
it has been running for.
Anyway, fed up with normal work and trying to do stuff outside in the
rain I thought I would run a quick check:-
The first post to the list (other than tests) was by Jon Wildsmith back
in May 2004, so that makes the list three years old.
In that time we have had 13,822 messages posted to the list covering
around 2,700 subjects giving an average of 5 messages per subject.
We have around 300 people on the list with around 100 receiving every
message and then around 200 on the daily digest.
I don't know about you, but I'm impressed! You all deserve a pat on
the back!

Julian.
If anyone deserves it, it's certainly you. Given the list format which
hasn't changed for the last three years, we are doing our best to keep
it lively, but the option for posting pictures and a tech archive
would certainly help.

I'd say you've spent a fair few hours keeping it all up and running - fair dews for that. Its a great list & i've sure learned a lot.

We should have a party when it reaches 21K messages or something - beer sponsered by Toyota!! + Milners!!

Cheers

Niall

I guess we can post pix elsewhere, and put links to them here on the list.
And why not just use the tech archives of other forums, and post there
actively.
Or is this swearing in the church? ;-)
