[Admin] Salisbury Plain update

Hi All,
I have now booked the function room at the Bustard Inn on Salisbury
plain (where we finished up last year) for the lunch and we should be
able to use it for most of the afternoon.
I have also promoted the event on the Ih8mud and Horizons Unlimited
bulletin board to help swell the numbers and am waiting to hear back
from the chap running the TLOC website about promoting it there.
I have put more information about the day up on the website at
http://www.landcruisers.info/salisbury05.html
I am going to put up a registration form so that I can get a better
idea of numbers and to take the bookings for lunch orders (?7.95 per
head).
I am also promoting a 'Lunch Only' option for those of you wanting to
meet up but not wanting to charge around the tracks.
Now a couple of questions for you:
Do you think it is worth me knocking out some name stickers for those
attending to make it easier for you to work out who is who?
I have also toyed around with organising some 'side shows' perhaps with
someone giving a talk on overlanding, etc, but am not sure if this is
the right venue. Although I do suspect that for those of you with
reasonably modified TLCs will find others keen to find out more about
it.
Do any of you have other suggestions for the day?

Julian,
Name stickers is a good idea depending on numbers. I am not sure about the
talks etc. You may find that the day is a bit short for that.
If I am around there will be Three of us.

Can't see there being time for specific talks Julian, I'm sure we'll do
enough talking amongst ourselves to fill the day.
Not sure I fancy spending the day with a name tag on! Be like being at
school or summat :) But I will if the others are, don't want to be a
spoil sport. Or maybe we could have our names across the windscreen :)
Not sure anyone will be keen to find out how to make their 80 like mine.
If I say mine is the one with a 'distressed' look you'll know who I am.
Jon.

Hi Jon,
THe more I think about it I can see it splitting into two groups, one who
are there for the whole day and another that join us at lunch time - I'll
do the name tags for the lunch.

Just to update you, Chis Scott of Sahara Overland fame has offered to
come along and do a talk and show slides/sell books and vids.
At the moment following the feedback from others I'm not 100% sure if
this will be the best venue but hopefully he will come down anyway.

Hi Julian
I don't really like wearing name tags, but I guess over lunch might be OK.
I haven't really done proper steep and sploshy off road before, so
personally I just want to drive, eat, meet everyone, chat and drive again. I
have another friend who has a new LC, can he come too if interested?

Hi Steve,
Stick in the mud!
No problem.
Yes, the more the merrier - in the next day or so I'll stick a form up on the
website for registration - I need to have a confirmed list of people coming and
also meal preferences at least a week before the event.
