Air cleaner

I've been wondering where my engine actually sucks it's air from.
The air-cleaner hose runs into the passenger side front fender.
Looked it up on the EPC and saw some sort of box shaped air duct.
Is there any form of big particle seperation "cyclone" going on in there?

Hi Chris,
There is small Helmholtz resonator (to reduce intake noise) in there and
the actual intake sweeps forward and up so that the air is picked up
through a gap betweeen the top of this piece and the guard. The gap is
about finger thickness.
