ARB/TJM suppliers in the UK

Hey guys,
Okay - so I've caved in on the idea of getting/making a barr-less jackable
bumper - the who thing is just getting too complex, so I'm going to buy
either an ARB or a TJM T15 steel and be done with it.
I'm just wondering is anyone knows a good supplier for either? I've heard
that Frogs Island are quite expensive - though I've no experience of themand I tried some outfit called Platypus 4x4 for TJM but they never answerthe phone and don't return messages and are therefore either out of business
or just playing at it.
anyway, any suggestions gratefully received.
Cheers - Andy

Andy, did you see the post from Clive Marks and the 2 photos ? I am
going to see Mark Townsend on the weekend. Basically he will make
whatever you need. I shall be asking for the bumper / winch mount but
without the tubular framework and associated brackets. Maybe just a
central hoop , best seen on the Slee off road site.

Hi Andy,
Talk to Devon 4x4 (http://www.devon4x4.com) for the ARB stuff - they
are also a Reseller and should be cheaper than Frogs Island (?466+VAT).
As for TJM, talk to Maarten at http://www.all-american.nl.

Have they ever been IN business? I rather doubt it....

Andy,
The main importer/agent for TJM now is West coast 4x4, 01704 229014, ask
for Tony. When I was looking he had not had time to sort out his pricing as
he had just taken over from Four counties, because of this he sent me on the
trail of getting mine custom built, rather than buy a known make.

I know - that's a good point - and one of the key drawbacks of the internet.
Any idiot can put up a website with some .pdf product catalogues and a
few pictures. The unsuspecting parts-sourcer is then left to waste his
time chasing somebody elses unrealised 'vision'.
Shame though - they were ostensibly based in County Durham, which is a mere
skip and a hop for me.
Cheers for now,

Hi Gareth - I think I'm swaying towards an 'off the shelf' option - mostly
'cos I've used up all my fabrication brownie points at work (see project
below in signature) and quite fancy just having a simple life with my bumper.
Also - I'm a wee bit worried about this 'airbag compatiblity' thing.

Andy,
If you are worried about the airbag bit dont buy a bar. As far as I know
none of the aftermarket stuff is airbag compatible, certainly the ARB one is
not.

Hi Roman,
Basically, my design requirements were to:
1 - make a roller drawer system that was quite secure - to offer more than
passing resistance to a thief and therefore allow a bit of extra protection
for important tools/documents etc. I'm therefore having the unit made ofmild steel plate, stainless (for the tank) and alu chequerplate, with built
in locks on the drawer doors.
2 - position a water tank BETWEEN the two drawers (to be filled through
a flush filler cap in the top of the system). I want the tank here to allow
even weight distribution irrespective of wether the tank is full and the
drawers empty, or vice versa. With the unit being 1100x900x300 mm, and
the drawers being the size I've designed them (don't have the drawing to
hand), the tank would have a capacity of about 65 litres.
3 - provide tie down eyes around the edges of the chequerplate top of theunit to allow the fastening down of further equipment/luggage
I'm afraid that my sketches are just pencil and paper jobs - and the fabricator
has them at the moment. I'm going to have a chat with him tomorrow to clarify
a few things.
Will post up some pictures or more details as they materialise.
cheers for now,
Andy
