Auto Box Specialist - Anyone know this Mob...

Howaya lads
Still scratching around at options for gear box replacement
No second hand or reconditioned A442F's to be had in Ireland.
Have contacted every gear box specialist in the Irish Yellow Pages.
Not one has done any work on a 80 Series A442F. The advice I've
received from most is not to import a box from UK and fit it in
Ireland. Mainly because you loose single point of contact if there are
any problems and you end up shipping boxes back and forth.
So after extensive research my best option is to go to the UK.
Best price for a recon box and converter so far is this mob:

Tel: 0121 440 4502

Don't suppose anyone on the list has had any dealings with these lads?
I need to talk to someone that's had work done there to find out if
they are trust worthy.
Cheers

Sorry, haven't a clue about them.
However have you heard of "Honest John" who writes in the Daily
Telegraph on Saturday? He has a FAQ page addressing exactly this topic
which can be found here: http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/faq.htm?id=3D16

Hi Niall,
When I bought my 80 series it had a gearbox problem, wouldn't accelerate, I
knew before I bought it (at a knock down price) I took it to a local gearbox
specialist KSM
http://www.yell.com/listings/DoFindListings/410971/KSM-Automatic-Transmission-Services/Gear-Boxes
They took a lot of trouble to sort out my problem, which was just a couple
of sensors in the gearbox, and at a very reasonable price, I know they are a
long way from you, but if you do come over they may be worth looking at.

He's a motoring journalist who is also a professional car dealer, and he
writes a weekly column in the motoring section of the Daily Telegraph.
He is no automotive arse-licker and, in my opinion, he is very switched
on.
More to the point he makes specific recommendations about service
suppliers, and because these are public (both in the paper and on his
website) he would soon find out if they were rubbish.

Another lead. I'll talk to them anyway but I've pulled over an egg cup
of metal filings from the sump magnets so I rekon there's serious wear
and tear

I read it as a recommendation of someone who could supply and fit a recon
(or second hand) box, I don't think anyone on the list doubts that yours is
beyond repair, those that have read the reports from your trip at least.

Don't think it's an A442F but it's cheap. How is the search going?
