Auto Reply Scenario

Hi guys
I'm away next week.
Does anybody know what will happen to the list if i set up an "out of
office auto reply" on this PC
In theory I could clog up the list with millions of repeat e-mails
As in:
I receive an e-mail from the list.
My computer auto responds
I get copied in by the list on the auto response
Computer auto replies
Vicious circle.....??? Goes on and on!!

I raised the scenario a while ago.
If the autoreply can accept rules it's easy to avoid, I use a different
email address for the lists to everything else which make life easy.
As the problem has never occurred perhaps there is some inbuilt mechanism to
stop it happening?
Wouldn't do to break the list before Julian get back.

There is no need for a reply, none, or not many, posts on here are
aimed at one person. I am in Canada from tomorrow until the 6th. but I
will set up no auto reply.
The only other reason of course is the fondness some folks have for
playing with the PC and systems but I grew out of that about 15 years
ago.
Regards, Clive.

If it's MS Outlook "Out of office autoreply" is intelligent enough to
know that it has auto-replied to a given address, and will only send one
message.
I had the same worries when I went off this summer, as work require me
to set it, and I checked it by sending multiple emails to the server
from a 3rd party address, which proved that it did indeed behave
intelligently.
I can't answer for other email clients though!

The autoreply might be needed for other emails not related to the list.
