Auxiliary tank on the chassis

Después de mi presentación en este foro, esta será mi segunda publicación.
Ahora mismo mi principal proyecto es poder preparar mi KZJ95 para hacer un viaje por el desierto argelino cuando las restricciones del Covid-19 lo permitan. Entonces, lo que necesito es poder llevar más combustible. Por eso estoy buscando información sobre cómo poner un tanque auxiliar en el chasis, como tiene el Prado australiano.
Me gustaría que me contaras tus experiencias y enlaces donde encontrar esta información.

Probably worth looking at the electrical diagram for the sub tank and then working out what you need from the. I'm not sure about the KZJ95, if it's the same as the VZJ95 (petrol) then they are essentially 2 seperate fuel tank systems each with its own pump. There is a changeover valve to switch between the two. The only exception is that the return line system, this only goes to the main tank.

I see you are Australian. Could you confirm if this Prado KZJ 95 model in Australia was sold with the two original deposits?

Yes it is standard fitment for the KZJ95 and VZJ95 as far as I know. Probably for the RZJ95 too though I've never seen inside one of them.

There are a few JDM imports of the 90 series here as well that don't have the second tank but the majority I see are Australian domestic market ones.

How lucky to have two source tanks. In Europe we only have one behind. For you which is the main and the secondary.
Is it possible to know if the one that goes side is also mounted on another Toyota model?

At least on the VZJ95 which is the most common 90 series here, the main tank is the standard 90 litres and the sub tank is 69 litres for a total of 159 litres which on the VZJ95 will do about 1000km to 1200km. Hey at least European models have SRS airbags and ABS something that cost extra here and not many 90 series have them.

I think the sub tank is similar to some other models but might not have the same connections. Can't remember which but the 4Runner and Hilux and Hilux Surf are similar to the Prado so maybe start there?

Sub tank to VZJ95 LHD 97 Europe

Has finished the installation sub tank to my VZJ95. Now I have 90+70 liters and can go more then 1000km on one filling. It is 90% assembled of Toyota factory components except wiring. The tank itself is from Hilux Surf 185, two way fuel tank inlet is stock, main valve is from 100...

It's a VZJ95 so you'll need to check how similar the RZJ95 is.

I also just checked my owners manual (2000) and it seems for the diesel the sub tank works as I described for my petrol VZJ95.

The manual covers both the petrol and diesel models.

muchas muchas gracias. Compruebe si puedo encontrar fotos de las conexiones con los dos tanques y el cuello de llenado. Supongo que habrá muchas piezas que tendrían que fabricarse manualmente

I used a 3rd gen 4runner/surf fuel tank and it fit snug under the left side of the chassis. Later found out it's the same tank used in places like AUS where it came like that stock.

Tú que lo has hecho, quisiera preguntarte si en la adaptación del tanque tuviste mucho trabajo.
Si tienes alguna foto de cómo lo hiciste y si tuviste que hacerle modificaciones al chasis para sujetarlo o el chasis ya tiene los puntos de anclaje.
