You'll need to zoom in.
Looked like a virtually new merc.
It "just cut out". It also wouldn't shift out of drive.
Then there's that towing eye shambles that I'm very familiar with.
"grab the towing eye mate"
"whats a towing eye"
"it'll be in your boot buried under all that shit"
"oh, OK. Is this it?"
"no mate..." etc etc.

Yeah see it a lot, I'm sure people think the faster you drive in water the better.
A lot of people would make it through if went slower.

This idiot wouldn't get out of the car as it would let water in! It was wet inside already!!

We has 1.8 diesel escort vans for work back in the 90’s. Apparently the air intake was just behind the front bumper as my mate found out when attempting to cross a flooded dip in the road, around 18” deep resulting in a dead stop and a wrecked engine.
How deep was the flood CG?

conversly, some people will come to a dead stop for 2mm of water and wait until they can drive round it!!

On the way home one night I saw some orange lights on a road I knew was flooded. Decided to go and see if someone needed help so drove down the road, water up to about wheel top height and found a BMW over it's bonnet in a dip in the road. behind that was a recovery wagon, also drowned and a recovery driver up to his gentleman's veg in water and immensely pissed off. He proceeded to march up to my vehicle and give me a bollocking for driving down a road that was closed and telling me what a fucking idiot I was.
As I explained to him, I'm not the one with a drowned motor up to my plums in water am I, and drove off!!

Did you risk it Mike? (picture 2)or were you and the Tanker Playing a game of dare with one another.... "Dost you Goo across that".. Yeh! I Dost.. "Goo on then"......... "Dost you"?...:auto-swerve:

Yes, I did higgy.

Eventually....

We get quite a few recovered after driving in flood water, some just need the water clearing out and they're fine, engine rebuilds or replaced. Cars with water inside are written off as its beyond economic repair and can be risk of disease.

Every time the river floods its guaranteed work

I did my 23rd really stupid thing about 10 years ago. I had to go up to Burton-on- Trent. The river was flooded and road closed but I decided to press on and follow the telegraph poles. Water got faster a and deeper and this lasted about 300 yards. Eventually I saw the road emerging from the torrent and got out safely, my 23rd life still intact.

You really need to stop damming the river!!

The hard part is staying on the road. In north Africa the oueds have water only a few times per year so often roads cross the oued with a ford instead of a bridge. When its dark and raining and the oued is high, with all the water flowing from one side to the other, its easy to get disorientated.

What folks seem to forget is that it ain’t just water! It’s got all sorts in it, best described as very dilute raw sewage.

T’other thing to remember is if you pass a road closed sign, you’re not insured.

Edit, I should say, …without express permission to do so by a police officer.
