Hi

I've got an 80 series and was involved in a head on RTC this morning. The insurance company are writing it off and I'm trying to find a replacement asap. as well as a valuation. I've had a look around on the internet but does any of you lovely people know any diesel's for sale?

Many thanks

Rob

Really sorry to hear of your RTA, hope you or anyone else was not hurt.

It must have had a fair crack to prevent repair, but if I know insurance companies, they will write it of for 50 quid’s worth of welding these days.

Is it too bad to consider a repair?

Can’t help with an offer of replacement I’m afraid, but I guess someone will come forward with an offer sooner or later.

Hi Rob, sorry to hear of your unfortunate coming together but the main thing is that you and hopefully no one else was hurt. I don't know if its practical for you to buy it back, is it beyond repair? What is your requirement to replace the one you are loosing 12/24V, auto or manual, early or late model.
I'd try and save your truck if possible, S/H body panels and all the parts needed can be bought from Karl and I'm in the process of slowly breaking 3 80's so there is help all round.

hope everyone is well rob.
is buying back from the insurance company still allowed nowadays? if so, and obviously depending on the extent of damage, this would be my first instinct.

Hi thanks for all of the reply's. I'm fine just pissed off with the car being written off. The other driver had a bump on his head but nothing too serious.

Ideally I'd like a 24V manual though not too fussed. I'd rather not have something that needs a huge amount of work as I use the car as my daily driver.

I'll see if I can buy mine back from the insurance company once we've agreed a price. Might need a bit of work though! IMG_6228.jpg

Bloody hell mate!!! Glad you're ok, going to guess this is what heard on the news earlier!!!

What state was the other motor?

As long as chassis isn't damaged yours is fixable.

There was one come up on Facebook for sale on toyota landcruiser Mart UK and sure was another recently with low miles. 8k says 2nd gear a bit poor and Speedo fault but look tidy otherwise.

Now that IS a sad sight? All I can say is negotiate hard with your insurers. Don't accept their first offer.

Thanks. The other car was embedded and mangled very badly. The driver was lucky. Given I was doing no more than 15mph at impact he was going some.

I’m collating as many expensive 80 adverts as possible and then sending them through to the insurance company. I’ve already refused their first offer

Agree with chapel break if it's repairable. An insurers told me insurers often write off automatically any vehicle over a certain age (often 10 years) because of the economics of sourcing rarer parts, long delays and cost of hire vehicles and admin whereas it is far easier to make a low used value offer then sell vehicle on to the salvage industry and get on with collecting those premiums.

First off I'm glad you didn't get hurt, it's hard to see exactly how much damage there is but my 80 was put back on the road after a full frontal with a garage wall. The bull bar saved it from a complete write off. I got two quotes for the ins co, one using new parts which came to roundabout £8000 and another using s/hand parts for £2500 guess which one the ins co accepted?

Hi Gary

I suspect it was the incident that you heard on the radio. As you can see the other car came off badly. Makes me want another big vehicle!
