Chemical metal?

I have heard people refer to "liquid metal", "chemical metal" etc as good stuff to fix a crack in metal that cannot be welded or for a quick fix when on the road. Anyone have any recommendations on what is good and what is not? A quick search throws up Loctite with their Chemical Metal brand and Halfwits have some similar using the same name (trademark infringement or repackaged Loctite? )
Any other brands or products worth mentioning?

AA patrols carry some, you break off enough from a bar and knead it 'til it's all a uniform colour.

Works very well on all sorts of applications, radiator, header tank/resevoir, block, in fact anywhere you might need to block a hole or secure something.
excellent stuff, but a bit of a bitch to get off to effect a permanent repair...so be a bit careful with it.

I prefer Belzona 1111. Its not cheap but the best thing I have used for repairing cracked casings
