My old 80 12v had a clutch servo, my newer (but same year) 24v does'nt, it's a notably heavier clutch pedal which can be a pain after the luxury of the previous one. Was it an option or something? I'm guessing one could be retro fitted?

I dont have one either, no idea why it was removed but its not really that heavy. I had a pug with a heavier clutch than this.

Hi
On your 24 valve 80 you will find a spring mechanism on the clutch pedal assembly. This goes"over centre" when you depress the clutch pedal and is a mechanical servo.
