I was checking the coolant level this PM and the expansion tank was empty except for a thick layer of what looks like mud..!

Was playing in the mud last weekend at piccadilly wood. How on earth could this get into the cooling system?

Has not overheated once since I've owned it. New radiator a year or so ago.

So I will flush the cooling system but I'm really worried how this got in there?

Is that the cap from your expantion tank or the rad cap in the picture? It sure looks like mud...have you or anyone else used rad weld in the pat? It dose not even look like Glycol crystalisation.

Is it gritty or is it like a smooth paste.

Steve

Hi Steve

Thats the rad cap. was trying to show some of the residue.

Have used radweld once in the past for a suspected leak.

The closer I look at the muck the less it looks like mud. Doesnt feel like mud. not gritty at all. here is a closer look:

Looks like old rad weld

Yep, it sure does look like old rad weld. I would recomend a rad flush ASAP.

Cheers guys

That puts my mind at ease a bit :)

Flush on the agenda tomorrow then
