Cruiser overland fitout - help!!

Hello everyone,
i am planning to drive to Capetown via the middle east and the east coast
of africa from January next year. I've bought myself a 97 landcruiser gx
amazon (diesel, manual gearbox), which seems in pretty good nick.
I was hoping to get some tips from people who may have an idea about what
equipment/alterations i will need for the vehicle.
I'm going to get in touch with Julian for advice but before i do that i
thought i'd see if i can get some input from the group. Obvious things
that i will be looking for are;
roof racks
roof tent
long range fuel tank
new suspension
storage system
fridge/freezer and aux battery system
does anyone have any experience or tips with regards to sourcing and
fitting these items? Or any general suggestions regarding an overland
fitout?
thanks all,
Jonathan

Hi Jonathon,
I think your best bet will be Julian, he will have all the answers you need and more.
A fridge/freezer will be a must in the climates you will encounter, along with a split charge system so you can be sure of starting every morning, Julian will be able to supply/fit that.

Hi Jonathon,
Me and my wife are currently on a 5 month trip back to Australia from
London. We used Julin to do up our truck, and he sourced the aux
battery, roof rack, split charge system, new suspension and snorkel
for us. We then picked up a cheapish rooftent (it worked fine so far)
from ebay, and also the 40L waeco fridge from there too. We didn't go
with a long range tank as we just have 2 jerry cans, but then we were
on a fairly tight budget. We did kep loking out for them on ebay but
they hardly ever come up. We also found a very cheap bull bar on ebay
that we bolted on... its not a proper one like an arb job, but it
would hopefully stop our headlights being smashed if something
reversed into us.
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Duncan.
