Cruiser V's Twin Turbo Audi Q7

On a previous post I went into a bit of a road test i did between the Q7
and a Range Rover Vogue.

......Was very funny at the weekend :)

Mr Q7 was attempting to launch a heavy boat on a steep slipway - with
twin turbos, reversing cameras, adjustable suspension, adjustable height
and retractable tow bar - the works.

I don't know if it was driver error or the Q7 (i suspect the former
keeping his foot on the break) - but both boat and vehicle went sliding
down the slip! - The tide was at seasonal low and the further down they
went the slippier the slip was.

Anyway the comedy act ended about 5 meters later when the boat jack
knifed into the pier wall and stopped.

Needless to say I had the winch out, yanked them back up the slip,
hitched the boat onto the cruiser, put the boat into the water and
pulled it back out that afternoon - no bother

The banter and craic was mighty and I reckon Mr Q7 will be looking for a
set of AT's to replace the fancy slippers that came with it from
germany.

Anyway - looks like a classic case of "Old age and experience out
weighing youth and exuberance"

Keep it lit !!

Niall,

Never having launched a boat I was interested in the bit about keeping his
foot on the brake =96 so it=92s like descending off-road =96 don=92t use the brakes,
just use low gear?

Sounds like it could have been quite an event on a different slipway without
a wall to arrest the descent!

Correct. just like descending off road - don't use the brakes -
especially when you have over a tonne of boat pulling you backwards and
driving on slimey green seaweed type stuff.

Sounds Irish - but the wall saved him!
