Good man JB, go for it !
You must have the swivel seals, stupid not to fit them for the cost. The
wheel bearings plus bearing seal you should already have 'in stock' in the
back of the 80. But more important is a new locking tab plus spare for the
wheel bearing nuts. You also need a dirty great socket for the wheel
bearing nut, but maybe your man will have one. The swivel bearings are easy
to keep in stock and like the wheel bearings they are cheap from quality
manufacturers like SKF or Toyo, Timken. As for the shims, don't go to Toy
for them. Its best to buy sheets of shim steel from an engineering supplies
place. They are easy to punch out.
Remember the spring balance for the pre-load. Replace all bearing races as
well as the rollers and take the numbers off of them and the seals (or the
new ones) so you can order spares form a bearing supplier at 20% the cost
of Toy next time.
Happy fitting JB - I knew you would have a go !
Cheers

Hey There Jon
Thanks for the encourgement, I dont know if you got my last post but, I
asked the Toy about all the bearings and other seals and such and he said
that all I need is the inner seals and moly grease. I did ask about the
inner and outer bearings and the whole seal kit inner and outer . The inner
seals are costing only 23 euro and the complete kit is something like 170
euro with out the bearings or any thing else. I will pay this if need be. I
wonder would it be possible once I see how the seals are replaced to
undertake if need be the other stuff on my own, I reakon that when its
apart it would give a good idea if all these parts need replacing aswell. I
really dont know (as usual). I know what I need is a second cruiser to
practice on and if its gets messed up well I will still have my transport.
No sorry only dreaming again.
When there in the Toy garage and seeing the bits on the pc screen I asked
him how as it appeared to me could I get the the inner seals on with out
needing the outer seals aswell. I also asked about the bearings and other
bits, he said there was usually no need and what they usually did was snip
the top of the seals to make them fit. Maybe that is how its done just to me
it dident seem logical to snip a seal , kind of defeats the purpose of the
seal. Ok thats me now you tell me im wrong cause I know nothing.
I also found out that the 80 model came out in 1990 I have never seen one
that old , I thought they came out in 91.

[80 Tech][ swinging arm bushing]

Hi Guys
I would like to know what would happen when I if I try to replace the
rollibng bar bushing. Will the bar fall when the bolt is removed or
basically what do I need to do and what happens. It is a case of loosen the
nut bang the bolt out and fit a new bushing and bang the bolt back in and
tighten the nut.
Thanks Guys

John,
Get the kit (Milner etc) and replace ALL parts (especially ALL bearings +
races).
The swivel bearings (top and bottom) may not need replacing and the skims
are normally not changed.
Its not worth the aggro later and when u've it all apart its easier to do
not than to fix again later. The time and labor are more expense than the
parts.
I'm skimmed b4 and have paid the price later (2 new spindles etc.)
Checkout all the web pages and photos online (I've plenty if u need any :)
and learn whats involved.
