1990 Z80 petrol / lpg.
The motor starts and runs OK but the voltage shows no lift so the battery is not charging.

All the other indicator lights are illuminated.

This fault condition is exactly the same as when the fan belts to the alternator are snapped.

Might be a coincidence but this happened a week's after I cleaned the dirt and oil off the engine and alternator with degreaser and water.

Any ideas? A link to a wiring diagram / workshop manual would be greatly appreciated.

I have found a workshop manual for the Z80. The Electrical Section starts at p554. This site won't allow a torrent file upload. I could zip it and upload it.

Check the plug at the back of the alternator for corrosion. Pull it out and give it a wiggle, clean it if necessary. Check your charge fuse and any other fuses are intact. If no joy you may need a new alternator. You could take the cover off and check the brushes and slip rings are clean. You’ll need to remove the alternator to the bench to do this.
