Delay in volt reading ???

Of note the direct injection engines do not need glow plugs or the heater in the manifold, I think it was more about emissions or seriously severe cold weather perhaps Siberia? Mine is the earlier 12 valve and has glow plugs and the volt meter did exactly the same before I replaced the alternator with a 150 amp version. So consider it normal, with the glow plug/heater circuit taking around 40 amps which is at least half of a stock alternator output which is also powering other 'stuff'.
