What experience do people have buying from Japan, South America, etc. through exporting companies? The only info I can get from exporters is that car is in good shape, no damage. Can I trust this? Do people ever travel to other countries to view the cars? I have a line on cars that I need and they are in Chile. with a company called International Machinery Exports.

Maureen, welcome to the list.
As I recall, your need is for a LHD cruiser. So please remember that
quite a few countries are RHD, including Japan, which is why imports
from that country are so popular in the UK. So be aware of that as
you make your search.
Some of us belong to other forums with TLC owners far and wide, and
it appears that those owners in countries like Chile have great
problems with acquiring spare parts. So be wary of any offers from
such countries and make sure they have a genuine Toyota service
history. (There are plenty of Chinese pattern parts that fail with
minor use - which is also a big problem for Toyota in African
countries by the way).
