I'm looking at purchasing a Detroit TrueTrac Locker set For a KZj70

Can anyone help identify from the list below which locker I would need for the front I do not understand the anyone between 2 & 4 pinion?

I'm 99% sure I need the 913A610 for the rear (as this is what other forum members have used) but am really unsure on the front. How many pinion is the front locker?

Can anyone help shed light on this?

Dont bother - horrible bit of kit and makes the truck handle like a pig on the road. Had one in my Cherokee and removed it after a month. Either buy a proper locking diff or don't bother. IMHO of course...

the true trac isn't a locking diff like your thinking of (website is wrong to list it as that), it's a torsen type limited slip diff so won't effect on road driving, it will improve it, now for offroad it will be much better than an open diff or the terrible l.s.d that comes fitted from the factory but not as good as a locker as if you have a tyre in the air it will still spin out

the diff you'll need devil for the front is the high pinion jobbie which I believe is 913A612, pretty damn sure 913A610 is the correct one for the rear

Hi HairyGuy4

According to eurocar parts the locker for the front should be 913A609 is listed as a 2 pinion on the Eaton website. Can anyone confirm whether the front diff is a 2 pinion or 4 pinion?

The Truetrac model I fitted essentially locked the axle when driving in a straight line and allowed the diff to open on corners - but on normal road conditions it pushed the vehicle about and you could feel the diff ratcheting as it unlocked. Great offroad, horrible on it - voice of experience!!!!

I have returned from New York & purchased the following EATON TRUETRACS 1 x 913A610 (REAR) & 1 x 913A609 (FRONT).

Rather than chiselling off my old bearings has any one got any references OEM or bearing supplier codes for the bearings required that will need pressing on? The rear bearings are need to slip over 50mm carriers and the front are 45mm carriers I believe.

The specialists I spoke to in the states states that fitted these to the front & rear shouldn't cause any drive/steer problems.

Does anyone have the correct bearing references? Toyo DIY is a little missleading

Both truetracs have now been installed and the hub seals bearings wheel bearings all replaced.

What is the road test for a truetrac, how would I test the front and the back? Is it silent in operation ?

Its silent, its a torsen type limited slip diff so is always working, best way to test would be to park with 2 wheels on one side on pavement and the other 2 on grass/mud and floor it, you should still be able to drive forward

But would the standard LSD diff on a kzj70 Which has just been taken out perform the same way?

How would I go around testing the front Truetrac?

To test a slipper you can jack the cruiser up so both wheels on the axle are off the ground. when you spin a wheel by hand the other wheel should turn in the same direction on its own.

Since a few off road sessions & snow I can confirm the Truetrac installed in the front & rear turn this into a different vehicle all together, they seem good value for money for a soft locker type lsd. Coupled with the 33's it seems to go anywhere
