Well we all thought it, now it’s in black and white!

The price of diesel fell by nearly 4p a litre in April but still remains at least 16p more expensive than it should be as it’s now 6p cheaper than petrol on the wholesale market

RAC site [leaving LCC]

Few years ago diesels were promoted as cleaner alternatives with low road tax and less fuel cost. Now after many moved to diesel, rules changed. More tax, fines, less benefits. Its EV agenda now

When they promoted the diesels all they were bothered about was lower Co2 to meet the climate targets; they conveniently forgot about NoX emissions.

And with EV's the gov conveniently ignores the environmental cost of batteries and their production, and their eventual destruction; plus theres still plenty of non tailpipe emissions (tyres, brakes etc).

But its easy for the gov to push EV's, and they will do it as long as it suits them

The promoted diesels to gain an illegal market advantage for European manufacturers . EV is being pushed because the same manufacturers have reached the limit of growth , they have to force cars off the road in order to sell more . its got sweet F all to do with saving the planet .

Costco in Sheffield is down to a reasonable £1.39 now. The second cheapest is a popular local garage. The supermarkets are at least 15p dearer. BP and Shell are posting bumper profits.

We all know were are being ripped off...... the motoring organisations know we are being ripped off , the big retailers know they are ripping us off and the government will do nothing about it because of the tax they get on the fuel.... 16p a litre less = big drop in revenue for HMG .

Like the complete lack of road maintenance by highways in all local authorities unless the public start to protest nothing will happen and the British public don't protest ....
Highways departments country wide are not fit for purpose.... we should withhold part of our council tax as we are not getting what we are paying for and highways should be prosecuted for failing to maintain roads in a safe condition ......

Unfortunately none of the above will ever happen.... we now live in a 3rd world country as far as local council and planning corruption is concerned we are closer to Nigeria than what was the UK .

How true Grimbo.
All they do when pushed, is send a man and van out (2 normally while one leans on the shovel) and fill potholes already marked by Stevie Wonder, while all around them the roads are sunk and cracked, ready fir a repeat performance.

Locally the council have moved the goal posts so that a pothole that years ago would have been filled in hours because it was more than "X" deep and a safety risk now is considered acceptable and nothing needs to be done until it becomes a crater of 4 inches deep and more than "Y" in surface area..... we have whole sections of highway that have degraded to the state the subsurface is now the road surface and obviously a safety risk as cars swerve into the oncoming traffic to avoid the holes.... let alone the cyclists who are pitched over the handle bars as they hit the holes ....
Most of this damage is avoidable if only they made sure the roadside drains were clear so the surface water could run away....

I also understand, that councils are absolved of any damage claims from the public, until they know about and have acknowledged the potholes.
No prizes for thinking 're claims, they didn't know about it, whether reported or not, only then do they swiftly fill them in with the same bullshit they talk.
Some off road/green lanes are flatter/smoother than around here, and you need to be a Ninja warrior to ride a bike.
Those 3rd world countries have better roads than us.

We're still being bent over and greased up round our area then. 1.61 litre at bp and 1.55 at Tesco and morrisons.

@Steve Wright That’s a great price. Yesterday cheapest around me was Sainsbury’s at £1.539/l so still just shy of £110 to fill up.

BP garage in Aberdeen this morning. £1.39 for diesel and £1.46 for petrol. Very confusing.

Prices changed locally here over the last few days - diesel under £1.50 a litre for the first time in a couple of years are now cheaper than unleaded and super unleaded.

The filling the pothole with wet sand so that the carriage for the coronation can smoothly travel says it all :( the oil companies get richer and richer while all our prices are rising. Signing petitions will help very little until people start boycotting the service stations. This I turn will hurt us again as public transport is so unreliable and expensive too. We cannot win

Anyone else recall the tanker and HGV go slows when it reached 1.50 a few years back? now just the accepted norm.

France has it right to some degree, government want to screw over the people, the people rise up and stick 2 fingers up.

The UK government change the laws on protesting making it easier for the vast majority of even slightly bent and biased coppers to fabricate some BS to bang you up. Conform or else. Could probably get arrested for this comment given today's snowflake eliminated freedom of speech.

Freedom of speech is exactly the control the establishment wants over us, carried out by their bent and corrupt stasi puppets.
