Diesel Pump 1992 auto

Hello All,
Many thanks to Julian for all the work
Help required with a diesel injector pump for 1992 80 series I-HDT auto with 91,000 miles. Leaking about 2 years ago and rebuilt via back door at professional pump specialists. Fine till April this year, then leak past main shaft again - but professional fixer now retired. Workmates honoured job and rebuilt it again - 3 hrs on workbench pressure testing etc - fine till now but leak back again - something about back pressure and a worn shaft and will not honour fix again. But would this not have shown up on testing? Local family garage - excellent mechanics - takes out pump, but only has two bays and LC ties up too much space. However, so-called specialist now offering to take out pump at cost of 200, fix at 250 (not including parts!) and reinstall - although they have had 2 chances already! Not inspiring confidence.
Does anyone know of anywhere to buy a new pump outright or get reconditioned one sent up to minimise downtime then send back my old pump. Should I try a breakers yard? If so, any pointers to good ones. Would regret having to go to full on Toyota prices.
Aside: Good supplier of ACL Big End Bearings (Standard size =3D toy size 4)
Cylinder Head Express, 427 Drumoyne Road, Govan, Glasgow 0141 339 8685 - ask for Derek
found through Engine Parts Uk Ltd, Essex (listed on internet under ACL bearings but they are only a distributor)
Good supplier who exports from Australia: the4wdshop on aussie ebay
also known as Steve 'Hobzee' Hobbs, 1300 Frankston-Flinders Rd, Somerville, Victoria 3912, Australia

Back to pump - car running perfect just leaking at shaft - but don't want to give wife a reason to force me to change it!

Hi Alan
Have had a similar problem with my pump and no matter where you get a new one its big money.
Toyota want about ?4000 I think AAI want about 2000? plus shipping.
MIne was stripped 3 times and two companies have washed there hands of it but still I have issues.
Julian knows a place in Swindon I think who will do you pump.
Second hand ones, you have to buy it, take yours out, get the second one overhauled and then fitted and pray its OK.
I have been told bench testing is not always 100% and issues can develop when the pump is fitted again.
cheers

Hi Alan,
As John has said, your best bet is probably to try to get a second hand
one and then get it tested prior to fitting.
However first things first, talk to John or Bob at RVS in Swindon on
01793 421 166 mention my name and ELCO and then ask them about the leak
on the shaft - they are a pair of old boys who I wouldn't be surprised
if they have 100+ years of experience between them and they are happy
to chat through problems and know the LC pumps.
They should be able to help you on your way.
Good luck and do let us know how you get on.

I too have had experience of them.
They didn't screw me up, but they didn't fill me with confidence either
.=2E. after having watched the boss "reprofile" my injectors by eye with a
grinding wheel. To be fair to him it all seemed to work, and didn't
cost very much.
