Peter,
It is the friction bewteen the nut and the wheel surface that prevents
it from getting undone, not the force with which you tighten up the
thread. I've seen what happens when wheel nuts get loose and the wheel
comes off at 100 mph, so I am anally retentive about such things. I
would get the proper nuts.
