The last one looks like a great idea.Iv'e worked for years as a tree surgeon , forester & arborist & i dont & take H&S lightly.A mate of mine sent me a vid of a home made log splitter from his village & asked if i would use it. My answer was that i wouldn't get out of the Landcruiser ;-)

My 16-ton electric/hydraulic (commercial) splitter is dangerous enough - it can spit split logs a fair distance at times !
That big wheel with the axe head is just mental - how long before he loses an arm ?
There are various you-tube vids of these things, they are quite entertaining but I wouldn't want to use one. Like those V8-powered chainsaws and the like - just side-show attractions (my 48" Stihl MS880 is quite big enough thanks).
