Hi All,
As you all know the ELCO weekend kicks off at Lincomb Farm tomorrow
night. If any of you have a change of heart and want to come and join
us for the whole weekend or even just pop along for part of the day,
please give me a call on 07971 540362 - we have plenty of space so the
more the merrier.
Full details of the weekend are available at
http://www.landcruisers.info/LincombIntro.html.
The weekend will be a mix of socialising, green laning and off roading
on the off road course.
Toyota are generously providing a hospitality suite for us to use and
someone from Toyota will be joining us on the Saturday with one of the
new 200 series and maybe even try it out on the off road course, which
will be interesting.
We have settled on having a Hog Roast on the Saturday night, so it
should be a fun evening around the camp fire.
For those of you coming tomorrow, just pitch up any time after around
5.30pm and either Tony Symonds (the host) or I should be around to
direct you to the camping areas.
If you are coming on Saturday morning, please try to be with us for
around 9.00am for the start of the days activities.
If you are camping and wanting food, please don't forget to bring your
own cutlery.
I look forward to seeing (some of) you tomorrow.

Hi All,

I would just like to say a big thank you to ELCO member Tony Symonds and
his wife Rebecca for hosting the ELCO Weekend at Lincomb Farm and
providing all the food. By all accounts everyone enjoyed themselves,
from the first timers in their shiney 100 and 120 series sliding around
on the greasy off road course after the rains through to the highly
modified battle waggons trying to blast their way up the near vertical
'mountain' on the off road course.

The continual rain didn't seem to dampen any spirits with a number of
people that came just for the day staying on into the evening for the
hog roast and party around the camp fire.

I have thrown up a few initial random photos from the weekend at
http://tinyurl.com/6rzdu2, hopefully others that attended will send me
some more to throw up onto the site.

Also a big thank you to David Crouch from Toyota for the loan of the
hospitality suite and for bringing up a 200 hundred series for us to
have a little drive in. Unfortunately we couldn't take it around the
off road course, although he has promised to come along to the next
weekend with some toys that can be driven around the course.

On the subject of another weekend - please pencil in the 19th-21st
September for the next one - hopefully some more of you can make it and
that it won't be raining!
Finally special thanks need to go to Jon Wildsmith for helping put
together the routes for those going green laning today and also thanks
to Toby and Ian for the entertainment on Friday evening ;-)

Hi Guys
Nice to see you all had fun on the weekend, so yet again well done Julian
for keeping the list going for so long and even getting around to
organising outings aswell, what more could a cruiser owner want.
In the photos did the tree hit the grey cruiser on the rear off side/ left
side panel or bumper or was it a close shave.
It would seem the new cruiser 200 series is aimed more at the general daily
driver /school run /family vehicle type of thing by the look of it.
So it would seem that the new Toyota cruiser might need a second or third
look to find the badge to see its a cruiser.
cheers

As Julian says, Thanks to Tony and Rebecca for hosting the event and
being so welcoming. I hope we didn't scare too many horses this morning
though...
I'd also like to say thanks to Julian for arranging the whole thing,
although I sadly had to pass on the test drive of the 200 given the
state of my trousers.
Thanks to everyone else who was there for help, hints, tips and general
good company. I'll post some photos shortly.
See you all in September, if not before.
Cheers

As already expresses before, but still an other thank you
to Julian, Tony, Rebecca and others involved in making
the event a success.
Also nice to see the new 200 series Toyota, although
most of us have to save for a very long time to get one.
We on our part had a very nice weekend and got a few ideas
listening to other members travel plans, experiences or just
by looking at their vehicles and their solutions to long distance
travel needs & preparations.

I enjoyed the small part of the weekend I was able to attend but it wasn't
enough for me.
I only had the morning of the Saturday available and managed to crack the
Cat in two places so I had to retire hurt and wasn't able to attend on
Sunday.
It hasn't been my week.
Jon - if the offer's still there I'll need to hook up with you at some point
to collect the socket?
Julian, many thanks for the undoubtedly huge effort involved in organizing
this and what do I owe you?
Pete

I would also like to thank Julian, Tony and Rebecca for the weekend. I had
a great time.
Unfortunately the Sunday laning trip did not go so well. Whilst driving on
road to the first lane I heard an unusual noise from the front end. On
stopping to investigate it was discovered that 3 of the 6 studs holding the
drive plate onto the hub had sheared off and a 4th one was about to. More
details relating to the believed cause of this will be posted later.
Jon very kindly offered his time and parts to repair the problem. So along
with Toby we spent the afternoon repairing my car rather than driving. My
thanks again to Jon, Toby and Paul for being so gracious in saying they did
not mind missing out on the laning trip.
Ian

I was intending to return on Sunday before discovering the severity of the
cracked exhaust. Didn't realize you stopped, sorry.
Pete

thanks for the weekend julian and all the others it was great to put faces to names and also to see what land cruisers can REALLY do, not that i was too tempted to try it!!!!

as always i was amazed at the depth of knowedge that everyone (apart from me) has and also their willingness to share it however i think that i will forever remain in the "ignorance is bliss" school of motoring

regards to all

Don't worry, before you know it you will know twice as much as you did about
LC's , you won't be able to help it, they you will realise you are hooked
and can't live without one.

Hi John,
The grey cruiser was sliding very closely to the tree, but had stopped and was being winched up the slope. It did make contact, but only briefly and no noticeable damage to tree or car.

Looks like a great weekend.. and looking at the pictures.. I'm so sad
that I was not able to raise the money for going..
The next weekend planned, (as I understand is in last part of September)
collides a bit with a trip I have planed in the start of October.
The plan was going to up through Norway all the way up to the Russian
border.
But I will look into changing the route, so that the next ELCO-Weekend
could mark the start of my trip.. I'll just have to look into getting
from BG/Scotland to Norway to continue my trip north..

Hi John,
Thanks again for a brilliant weekend.
After a close encounter of the tree kind, I can confirm that there wasn't
the slightest mark on my Grey cruiser.
Our half day laning trip was great fun, espcially the water sections.
See you all next time.
